Hmm... What do you think about this spec?

Hey...

I'm playing a Lurikeen Ranger and want to spec him as 100% sniper (50 pathfinding, 50 recurve bows and rest (30) stealth) and I just want the more experienced players opinion...

I've played on Albion and Midgard and found those servers and chars boring, but I somehow think that Hibernia is more fun, especially Lurikeens. They're small and cute looking, and they can hide behind almost everything, which I find quite amusing. And maybe that can be used in RvR? I've given that a thought...

Anyways... What do you guys think about my spec? Can I survive in RvR?

Looking forward to hear from you.

Peace out

Rangers always rock RVR

I think they solo pretty well too

Just remember go piercing if u take any melee weapon specs cos ur strength will be dodgy as ;)

I wanted to go go 50 Pathfinding too....

Then i met my druidic friends...
Now i hit dex cap almost without buffing myself (with blue and yellow druid buff... in a group i take blue and buff my own yellow over so if u wnat to spec PF much go for at least 29

Solo is a bit different though
But if i go solo i snipe... and this means only much weaker enemies... so i did pf only to 25 for the 3rd afterburner

34 is another afterburner
and 45....

My spec is

39 Stealth
34 pierc
25 Pathf
50 Bow

I can melee any other archer class ... even some blue tanks
(no armsmann fer sure ;) )

But next patches will be opportunity to respec.. i heard taking bow to 50 isnt necessary & co dunno exactly yet....

Heres my template for 50:

Bow 45
Pierce 29
Celtic Dual 14
Pathfinding 36
Stealth 38

Bow and Stealth should be near to (or above) 50 with item bonuses.
36 pathfinding means 2nd best dmg/af buffs and speed and 3rd best dex/qui and str buffs (but druid ones are always better, so group with one if poss).
Pierce gives a few of the special move chains - enough for those pesky mobs that get past the arrows.
Celtic Dual - a lot of people say don't bother, but I just like it :)

IMHO I think this is a fairly good all round character who will work in both PvE and RvR.

The thing with Celtic dual is this :

- It doesnt affect your damage variance at all
- It gives u some styles (but if u specc pierc why have double low
lvl styles instead of single high lvl ;) )
- It raises the chance to swing double 0,5 % per point
--> base chance is 25 % (changed to 35 % i heard)

So i dont bother putting pionts in CD unless i go full specc (which is only for blademasters)

Hmm... Now I have something to consider. =O)

Thx everyone. But tell me, which races have you chosen. Both lurikeens? Haven't mentioned it yet, and I've seen alot celt-rangers, in fact that's almost the only race I've seen gone the ranger path... Haven't seen much Lurikeens yet, but hope to see some more, because I personally think they rock! =O)

And btw. I just thought pathfinding was so kewl, but I'm totally wrong or what?
Only speccing 25 into Paths must make it rather unusable...
Hmm... I'm a bit confused...

1. luris rock
elves got higher int (useless for rangers)
celts have higher str and con (blade users but they cant hit a barn form 10m with bow .. joke ;) )
luris have highest dex of all .. ROCKS

2. Pathfinding is useful

but: it interferes with druid spec buffs .. os if grouped with one its useless... well i tend to use my dex /qui and get blue (base) bex from druid but much better if u get both druid buffs ;)

well but in a grtoup druid s tend to buff tanks first so ull prolly get only the base dex ...
the other buffs r useful too
I found out lately that i hit a red mob for 26 dam ;) unbuffed but after buffing i hit for 40 ... + dam add buff (14) = 58 ... well much better... but the prob is buffs wear of and rangers are snipers.... its abit difficult rebuffing while watching the zombie camp in ygg ;)

And after all (my personal opinion) the afterburner at 25 is a MUST ;)

in short :

if u solo pathfinding RULEZ (but not uber like everything ;) )
if u in a group in quite useful but often only afterburner and dam add are used.....
Having 25 PF is good and u can spec a decent melee (cuz u always need to melee surviving mobs or incoming mids ! )
at 50 ur bow skill rulez (solo) but if a mob inc u ur toasted ;)

i can still melee a blue easy , a weak yellow after only 1 or 2 shots
and in RvR blue hybrid tanks (no pure ones fer sure ;) )
with 34 pierc and 25 pf .. i have nice melee skills AND decent buffs AND the GREAT AFTERBUNNY ..erm BURNER

Good luck

As I said, I just put some points into Celtic Dual 'cos I like it - it looks cool and is what I wanted my character to do - it might not be uber, but its how I wanted to play her :) It's only a few points so isn't going to make much difference to my overall spec - at level 12 I have only gone to level 2 so it's not using a lot of otherwise useful points.

I did Nemesis, but when I did my template I had a few left over points, so thought I'd put them in CD. Maybe I'd be better upping pierce or stealth by 1 or 2 instead, but what the heck :)

How ever you spec, never EVER spec too high! You will waste a lot of points on those few last points when you can easily get them from items and realm ranks.

Also, if you dont spec any weapon, you will have a hard time levelling. Very hard time. Or expesive as you'll have to use the best arrows from start.

Personally I'd start with something like

bow = lvl
pierce = 2/3*lvl
pf = rest

Around lvl 30 start putting points into stealth. Final spec would be

39 bow
43 pf
34 pierce
35 stealth
and few pts in CD.

Getting bow to 50 should be a piece of cake with few items and realm ranks. 43 pf gives me the last run and AF buffs and all but the best of other buffs. You wont need as much stealth as a nightshade would need, either. Taking piercing to 34 just makes it over the 2/3*50, though items and RRs will raise this too.

Ranger spec

You will get a good +10 from items and realm points for your bow so dont sell your self to short with your points.

with stealth rvr will soon be getting detect hidden so characters will be able to see you with this so you may want to put some points into piercing / blades

dont worry if you spend your points that wrongly because we will be getting the chance to respec our charcters in one of the distant patches.
