Well, if you're hanging around hoping to see Half-Life 2 suddenly unlock... well I would go hit a movie or dinner or something if I were you. Something is certainly up, and VU would be crazy to let people buy the game off shelves for 3 days and not let Valve unlock it... I'm pretty sure this is a first. A hotly anticipated PC game release that everyone can buy and nobody can play. Let's all just hope VU changes their mind because I'm pretty darn sure 99.999% of the people buying Half-Life 2 from BestBuy right now have no idea what is going on or why.

Seems like everybody is going mental trying to find out if hl2 will be unlocked before Tuesday. Lots of sites are down/off because of the flood of people refreshing their browsers

Would be nice though, wouldn't it?

Half-Life 2 For Sale?

If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time.
