HL2 problems

I've just got HL2 but there is a problem. I've installed it but still it isn't on my Steam list listed as MY GAMES, still on JUST RELEASED. Is there a way to fix it or play it without connect to Steam. I think you cannot but yet, why make a single player game with internet as recuirment?

Assuming that you have a proper paid for version...

... you have to connect to the internet and get Steam to download the updates to your HL2 file - once you have downloaded the updates you should be able to play

A friend of mine had this with the HL1:Source. He got the silver package and everything was playable except HL1:Source which was 'just released'. He couldnt download or preload.

If its any help, it sorted itself out after a couple of days.

Or you could use the Steam Support "Ask a question" feature at steampowered.com to log a ticket. They usualy take quite a while to get back to you though.
