HL/CS problem

I know this is gonna sound like a really newbie question but um, i am a newbie so that doesn't really matter =)

how do i change my name?

yes i've tried the obvious things of '/name 'spud'' and 'name spud', neither of which work.

when i just type /name in the console it reports back 'spud' but i can never get the name on the scoreboard to change. anyone know what im doing wrong?

If you mean CS then you can only change your name when your alive .

do /name spud will work when your walking about. Or change your name in your config

type "name your_name" in console without the quotes.

Also, you can go to Multiplayer>Customize in the menus and change your name there.

True, if it's CS you mean, you can only change when you're alive to prevent you changing your name to HE'S ON THE ROOF etc.

Thanks guys, i think thats what the problem was.

I tend to spend all the time i'm alive (usually around 20seconds or so =)) fighting n stuff and spend the rest of the five minutes, while i wait for the next round, trying to get my name sorted.
