Lo all,

just a quicky.. new pc - Win XP, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro {64mb}, P4 2.6mhz, 512ram, dx 8.1, blah blah....

just installed HL and CS to find the picture aint much cop, and when moving unde water the pixels seem to go REALLY bad, like it was written in basic or something :/

dx tests all seem ok... i've tried using software/d3d settings for both HL / CS, and software is exactly as described above.. blocky, whereas d3d is even worse.. very dark, can't see anything :/

so strange :(

any ideas ?

Use OpenGL.

HL engine is designed for OGL although it can do D3D.

software is not using any hardware accel at all and will look shit.

If you want CS to look nice use a high opengl res ~800x600 or over. Most will use 1024x760 on a 19" monitor.
