Stage 2 of the HL2 pre-load has begun. This time its all the audio files. Just check the pre-load status in your Steam games list, and click continue to get this stage.

I'll probably buy the collectors edition anyway. I'm only bothering to download this because I have the bandwidth doing nothing, and because there is a remote chance it will be available before the retail release.

I'm getting it via steam but I won't be able to use it until my Pre-ordered copy arrives on the doorstep. Dunno why I'm doing it this way. I guess I'm just keeping things up to date.
And maybe someone will hack the content.
