I had a few problems myself last night (NTL). My ping was average of 80 and at times sitting at 130. Not impressed to say I usually get 40 (which is still quiet high for cable). I think were gonna have to just sit and wait till it gets resolved.

Its always good to say where you from and what internet service provider you use to as this can some times lead to where the problem may be .

If you're connecting at 50,000 bps its still not got a lot to do with yuo're ping. Have a look at that modem, thats the problem. The avarage modem probably does about 200 ping I would guess. But dont forget the scoreboard ping figures on BW can vary wildly from what it says on netgraph. The point being I know net graph records lower any way, but my ping on isdn can go up to 200 on the scoreboard, then down again to 80, without any noticable movement on net graph.
So.. to sumarise
1) The BW scoreboard pings are not always to be trusted
2) You'll never get a really good ping on cs with a modem. The best I know is about 130 on occasion, more likely 180.

Heh the scoreboard on TFC says im on 120 but my nextgraph says im pinging at 0-10. Messing about with cl_updaterate does that to you.

The scoreboard ping is what you should go by. Ignore the netgraph.

It says on Netgraph i have a 40 ping, i check the scoreboard and it says im on 120+ :eek6:, altho i have also been lagging which scares me :(

Pings are high on BW at the mo i think

Yep I know thr n-g pings are a bit weird :)
What I was saying tho was that the massive spikes seen on the scoreboard wernt represented at all on ngraph, making me wonder how accurate they were. Tbh ive not noticed much difference meself :)

I used to get around 160average on nguk, however i've never really had it so good on BW, however under200 allways.

Now in Q3, which is a real game, i can often get a good 160ping on BW, which makes me feel big when i play on the HPB CA server :D

Back in the days when I was a 56ker the thing that made the biggest change to my ping was when I phoned BT and complained about having bad ping, and got them to "turn up the gain" at their end. :D
