High Level Crafters

I was just wondering if there is a shortage of high level (600+) armour and weapon crafters in Hibernia/Excalibur?

I've been trying to get hold of a new weapon for about 10 days now, and it seems like there's no active weapon smiths working in sapphire about at the moment. I've tried broadcasting in TNN and Innis, checking with /who and even (though I hate doing it) directly messaging people I see sitting round the forge in Innis. In fact, if a kind druid hadn't given me the battlemace drop (thanks Insananity) I'd be hitting mobs with a blue con hammer with 10% durability ;-) A friend of mine is looking for some AF60 scale, and has a similar story to tell.

Is it that all the high level crafters are playing on other servers or playing alts? Or is it that there just aren't that many about?

This isn't a rant of any sort, I'm just curious.

For weaponcrafters, you don't have a lot of choice. Ortunga is the king, at 900+ somewhere, Alrindel has 680, and Barda is at 620 I think. There are several armorcrafters at 900+, Evoric, Lavelle and Danita.

Hopefully the new chronicles will make this part easier, when we get them...

Thanks for that Trollbait :)

Have you any idea if these guys have crafting times when they'll accept orders for items (or make them)? I only ask because I once saw Ortunga with his /setwho set, sent a message to see if he was crafting and he never responded :( (guess he must get a lot of this)

I (Alrindel) have never refused to answer anyone who messaged me for price/availability questions about crafting - at the worst they may have to wait a minute or two if I'm in the middle of a fight, and if I have to say no, then it's no. But I will always jot down the name of the person, the item they wanted and the price I quoted, and as soon as I'm able to craft again I try to get back to them and ask if they still want it.

I'm on most evenings after 21h00 CET, and if you can't find me look for someone in my guild (Silent Death) and tell them you're looking for me, or even post on our forum ( http://silent-death.net/ ). Since we have a 600+ tailor, a (soon to be) 700+ weaponcrafter and a 900+ fletcher, maybe I should make a special part of the website where people can place orders...

As far as I know I'm the only weaponcrafter in Hib over 700.

90% of my orders seem to be cobalt though, im pretty sure theres plenty of others out there that can make cobalt gear.

I'm seriously considering having "business hours" or some sort of website with an ordering system. Having people just message me radomly is starting to wear me down, even if im anon people ask at the most akward times.

Picture it:

Siege at dagda, 150 albs outside 100 hibs inside, im ressing all i can and lagged to hell

Randomchar sends "Hi, can you make me a cobalt guarded rapier please"

ARGHHHHHHHHH!

Don't get me wrong I don't want to appear ungrateful for custom but I need someway to regulate things, I can't be "on call" all the time.

I think that part of the problem is that people get desperate for crafted items (like me :), and since not many crafters use /setwho, players will just message directly if they have your name. I try to only message people who either have the crafting flag set, or who are in a crafting zone.

One solution would be to use the ordering site as Fair mentioned, but a lot of high level US crafters seem to have established crafting times (like once a week), which is similar to what Ortunga mentioned. Why don't a number of you high level crafters synchronize these and have a crafting fair once a week? As long as people were aware of the fair it might reduce the day to day hastles.

Just a thought ....

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm only at 834 armourcrafting, Evoric and Lavelle are both at 999 armourcrafting and Thanatlos is above 900 as well I think.
I haven't been online as much as I used to be, so I'm doing more of the fun stuff such as Xping and playing with rams instead of getting my armour skill to 999.

Danita.

Sounds like an good idea azrak, but could be a lot of problems getting that to work. I craft when my mood is for it, and i cant put a schedule on that. Can be extremely boring sometimes :D
But still a good idea :)

It's ok to get PMs about peeps ordering crafted items, but if you're xping/RvRing just tell you're bizzy atm and ask them to tell you later. And they should accept that :D

Or if you have time write down the name and what they want, and craft it later when you're free to do it :m00:

I started out by doing this but once I got to the point where I needed a tailor for scale the amount of time it takes to complete one order is just astronomical.. I'll gladly do reinforced, scale is a different story though.. Trying to get some sets of the 60,70,80 and later 90 versions in one of my vaults at all times but I doubt it's going to last long :)

Setakari is the name of my char, Journeyman Smith currently (600+ skill, i think im at 610 or so). Im on regular basis in TNN accepting orders, so some people might have seen me there.

If people message me, I'll decide whether or not I have the time (read: if Im not busy exping/raiding etc) to make it. Most of the time i do it tho, and if I'm in TNN, you can surely message me ^^.

All grey con items to me come with the usual 95 QUA assurance that I've held up to for most of my crafted weapons.

So, here is another (moderate) skilled weaponcrafter, free to accept any orders ^^

Cheers.

(PS: Edit: spelling)

Yup agreed thanatlos, it's a pain in the ass about the scale. Considering to raise my tailoring too so I can make it all myself :D

don't do it.. spent 2 days in tnn feeling guilty and kept making weapons/scale/leather/cloth/reinforced just coz I could and no-one replied to their requests.. :)

Kinda fun if I had an unlimited supply of funds :)

This can be a pain considering that your tailoring is capped at 75% of your armour skill. Still, by the time you reach an armour skill of, say, 900 you would be able to make the linings for a complete set of AF60.

I think that players should be made to realise that AF60 and above takes time to make, and be prepared to wait for a day or 2, while you wait for your tailor to come on line.
