Supurb sequel, made even better by the fact that the pirates don't seem to have got hold of it yet.

I have only one bone to pick. I want my top down tactical map back, the first person one is rather tricky to use unless you spend 2 mins zooming out.

Other than that, brilliant.

The first one was excellent, gameplay-wise, but was let down by a raft of bugs that were never fixed.

the controlls for this game are layed out v. badly. who uses the curser keys?!?!. plus its a real bitch to re asign them, as it appears that nearly every key is used....

So... what is it? Looks like Medal of Honour. Is HD2 based on the Quake III engine? Can you control vehicles?

Isn't it based on the Mafia engine? Which could have been Q3....... not sure tho, think it may have been their own. You could control vehicles in the 1st one, so one would assume you can here. But I'm just guessing

Anyways, didnt realise it was out? I downloaded the delux version of the first one the other week, it reminded me how badly the controls where, and it looks like (from what people have said), the sequal is the same

Think I'll wait for a demo.

I also downloaded the free original that was released and was amazed by how much the controls sucked. Might have been a good game otherwise but I uninstalled it after 2 minutes.

The controls are terrible in their preset mode. But please, spend 5 mins setting them up to WSAD or whatever you want and see how much enjoyment you can get out of the game.

BTW, this game has more in common with a stealthy game like Viet Cong or Splinter Cell than it does with a full on FPS like Quake 3 or Medal of Honor.

Whatever tickles your fancy I suppose.

I haven't played the original for a long time, but I don't recall the controls being that hard to use.

I think it's all you FPS types that can't adapt to anything that doesn't use WASD

It's not necessarily the layout of the controls, its more the execution of them - it seemed sluggish when compared to 'modern day' games, unresponsive etc.

But if they release a demo of H&D2, I'll download it and have a go. As I am really very much broke atm

The original game was pretty sluggish in parts. The tank battle for example. The framerate was reduced to about a frame every 5 seconds, which made playing almost impossible.

Its caslled the LSD engine and is indeed the one used by mafia first.

Ooh! That sounds appealing. Mafia was a very good, responsive, solid game in both driving and shooter modes.

Well, i bought H&D2 - I sent my parents off on a little mission to obtain it for me. They came back with it, and promptly gave it to me. As I opened up the 3 fold CD case thingy, I checked the 3 CDs for any marks etc, and the manual for any rips. As I turn over to the back, my worst nightmare comes true. There's a nice white box, below it says CD Key - but the box is empty!

BASTARD!

(forgive the poor quality - but you get the idea)

So, now I have to go back into town 2morrow and put off the liberation of mainland Europe for a day :|

Oh well, time to take out the frustration on some BF people.

I bought this and I've been playing it, but I'm already struggling on the second mission.

Planting the charges sets a five-minute timer which doesn't give me enough time to do everything else I need to do, even with a full German uniform that allows me to move unnoticed ("Good luck, Mister Brown...")

I suppose it shows the dynamic nature of the game - I didnt have a German uniform, I just slaughtered everybody in the place, then I was free to run around, take the photos, and plant the charges at the very end

I'm sure when I went back to the floor I had just cleared reinforcements had arrived. Maybe I'm confused with my saving/loading escapades. :/

There is a lot of Germans in the complex, but it is possible to clear it out.

On the 2nd level I ran around like a mentalist, twatting everything in sight, took photos, cleared all base out of the hun, took a piss on a picture of Hitler, planted the bombs, scratched my arse and casually walked out humming "The Hairs On Her Dickie Di Do" with plenty of time before the base went to Hades.

Didn't even consider putting on the Bosch uniform tbh.

I didnt find one

I couldnt take one off the German soldiers I'd killed - dunno where he got one from.

You can only take a uniform that isn't damaged in any way ie you can't kill the guy wearing it. To steal a uniform you need to make the wearer surrender, then capture them. As the manual says, you need a complete outfit - everything must be authentic including the weapon, hat and backpack.

There's a couple of Germans in that bunker that are busing themselves with other things. Approach them with a weapon drawn and they'll surrender. You can then nick their uniform. One of the rooms has a German backpack in.

Man, this game is hard. I'm not keen on controlling all the other men, in fact I only realised you could on the third mission. The game becomes very complicated to control, a lot like Operation Flashpoint.

Very hard work, but it'll be fun once I get used to it, I'm sure.
