Hib Stealth ability?

I dont know much about stealth class specs/abilities or stealther RAs in general and even less about NS classes hence this question - maybe someone can answer as its been puzzling me for a little while.

Over the past few weeks there has been a regular coterie of Hib stealthers in Odins Gate - 1 in particular and possibly 2 (its hard to tell) seem to have the ability to return to stealth almost at will.

I will explain:

I first noticed it on one particular stealther who I DoT'ed, he didnt purge just ran a short distance and immediately restealthed, at first I didnt pay it much attention and put it down to lag etc.

Tonight the same hib stealther was in OG - this time Id nuked and DoT'ed him, was hitting him with my staff, my pet was also hitting him as was a Shadowblade. All of a sudden he just stealthed. It wasnt too much of a problem as he was uncovered quickly and killed. The SB remarked to me afterwards that this particular player seems to have the remarkable ability to stealth in combat as he had seen it several times as well.

So I am wondering if this is some kind of ability (RA or other) like Vanish.

Nope was definately a Hibbie - theres a couple who lurk around Odins who do it regularly I've got the names and so on - just wanted to find out if it was a genuine ability.

Think it might be a bug, not sure how its supposed to work, but i sometimes manage to stealth under DoTs/bleeds, always thought that was supposed to keep stealthers unstealthed. (i havent got vanish yet)

Also, a miss/resist dont break stealth, so if your pet missed the NS all the time he could prolly stealth.

If someone DoT's you and they die you can stealth 10 secs after they die. If they're still alive you can't stealth until 10 secs after the DoT stops ticking.
If your stealthed and you resist a damage spell, evade an attack or an attack misses you wont unstealth. If you're unstealthed and you resist a spell, evade or someone misses an attack on you, you must wait 10 seconds before stealthing.
And if it was a infil he would have to purge the DoT before vanishing or the next tick would just pop him again. And if you had pet on him and he used vanish pet would just keep chasing him until the pet popped him.
Report and let GOA investigate imo.

As i was the shadowblade who made the comment, I'll add a little something this ns is also capable of entering stealth with an enemy within his stealth bubble, again soemthing that breaks the know laws of stealth... his name.....

I have noticed that I can restealth during a DoT tick, I thought it was new with 1.62 lol, so it’s a bug?

Nope. The only time I saw that happen was definitely not a dot nor bleed. Was some sort of a nuke that landed on him - had the being-hit animation. About 1-2 seconds later the bugger stealthed. And yes, it was a hib, so it wasnt Vanish.

Had this in the battleground with a ranger. I was being shot looked around and didn't see anyone. I died, and assumed he was behinda tree, but then a giant wolf wanders over me in combat mode, and I get attack spam saying the giant wolf was hitting my attacker, yet there was no attacker in view. The wolf was walking at stealth speed so it was as if this ranger could stay stealthed whilst being attacked. Strangely I didn't see his shadow as he walked right over me. Might just have been very strange lag however...

u can stealth with bleed/dot proc on you if you kill your "dotter/bleedmaker" enemy.

after thinking about this for a while and being bored yesterday with no DAOC i found a program that in it`s own words..

This tool uses all possible security holes in the communication
between the DAoC-server and your client to modify the data. (proxy)

INCLUDED commands to:
- change your speed
- open any gate
- fly
- beam
- keep moving while mezzed/rooted/stuned
- change starting model
- etc.

This DOES NOT:
- change anything of your level/stats/gold/items
- generate any items
- makes you stronger in combat

would report it on rightnow but will wiat untill it`s working properly quite scary IMO if this thing works

Yep with the hack programs that are about now expect to see many odd things

Soon will probably be like Counterstrike where everyone gets the cheats, but obviously only to combat those that already use them Happened with buffbots, if you can't beat em, join em mentality, could soon happen with hack programs unless some measures are taken and quickly.

Of course should Mythic write some code to detect and beat the hack then it would be several months before it came to euro daoc probably

It probably means something else, ive grouped with the said elf. And seen nothing wrong.

Id hope that instead of going on a public forum, you report any suspicions in the future to rightnow. Instead of trying to name and shame.

Well tacticus - I explicitly refrained FROM naming and shaming - I didnt even say what kind of stealth class it was - merely that it was a Hibernian one. I also explained that as I had been away from the game for a considerable period of time, my question was simply in order to find out whether this was a change in the stealth abilities or... as has been pointed out, a bug. Furthermore, it was an attempt to shed light on that said possible bug which may or may not adversely affect all member of all realms in RvR if the problem indeed does turn out to be just a glitch in the programming.

As you will have noticed from several of the answers here, stealth does in fact seem to be working other than intended in some extreme or unique circumstances.

Unlike some, I for one DO NOT accuse people of anything without substantial proof and I certainly wasnt pointing the finger at anyone for anything with my original post or any subsequent addendae to it - in fact if u read my post the exact opposite is true as I have already quite clearly stated that in my opinion this is a bug, or was lag or was some other extraneous factor.

And as far as using a public forum for trying to find out information about this game, I would suggest that under the present circumstances there is nowhere else TO turn for any information, seeing as though RightNow has been down for a great deal of time and is likely to be down for some time to come and all the GMs seem to have disappeared from the face of the Earth.

So I would suggest to you that in future you actually read the threads, address your comments personally to those you feel it necessary to address them to and refrain from trying to turn a simple request for information into yet another BW whine/flame thread.
