Ive just installed CS, and in-game i appear left handed, i know its possible to change it to right handed, but how ? ive checked all the config menus and i cant find it anywhere, is there a console command for it ? or am i looking in the wrong place.

Also could someone recommend some decent Net settings for a broadband connect, (if they need be changed at all from default).

Cheers

or you can drop down the console and type

setinfo "lefthand" "0"

and that will also sort that out for you :)

Cheers Mystic

Couple of small questions, as you saw last night Mystic im from q3 ;) hehe in q3 capping your fps at 125 enabled you to move better, is there anything like that in CS ?

And also net settings, do i need to change them from default, i had a quick go last night, on a BW server i was pinging 30 with default settings ?.. if i used default settings in q3 online i'd be warping everywhere, so just want to check to make sure.

Thx in advance :)

based on the fact you have dsl or cable:

rate 20000
cl_cmdrate 40
cl_updaterate 40 (these two will raise your ping artificially)

That's weird. Increasing ur rate (similar stuff) in QW made my ping look smaller.

heh since you say that Wij, in q3 increase stuff like rate and maxpackets, gives you a false ping, weird really :)

ghey q3 net code :>

Well, in CS, if I change cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate to 1, then I get pings of 10ms...even 4ms once. If I put them back up to 40ish, my pings bounces up to the 40/50ms mark. These 2 commands determine how data is sent, and recieved from the server (well, they do more than that, but that's the basic idea)...so raising the amount of data serves to cause more server side and client side calculation and work, making it appear as if your ping is higher.

What you need to remember with the halflife engine is that the ping displayed is actually the amount of time it takes fro a packet to leave your machine, get to the server, and be processed...or soemthing. It's hot..leave me alone ok?!

Also if u have cable i suggest setting cl_lw and cl_lc to 0, this will disable the client side prediction stuff which makes the game much more playable in my opinion give it a try.

Also i use rate at 10000, Perps I know u are on cable to, what kind of results do u get with rate 20000, never seen it suggested that high unless u have t3 or the like.

EDIT > almost forgot some tweak links :)

both will help u tweak your graphical and net settings stuff.

OK - I get my cable modem on Saturday - what do I type in my console?

Infact, if you could suggest it as a script, it would make my day.

I've had cl_lw and cl_lc to 0 for a while and it's better.

If you have rate 10000 what do you use for cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate ?

I have it at 10000 atm but I don't think I have 40 for those other two. Don't wanna risk 20,000 on my adsl since it's BTOpenWorld :D

i have updaterate and commdrate on 50, I told my mate on adsl to do the same -DONT.

ADSL being a bt product is quite shitty, err rate 7500 and updarate 35 commandrate 40 for adsl, would be my suggestion.

It's smooth on 20000, but to be honest it doesn't make much/any difference at all once you go over 10000/15000
