Heretic Templates

Have been working on Heretic templates of late, and specifically in this case, one that benefits hybrid/solo heretics. Here are my thoughts.

Primary Stats/Bonuses

*At least one shape change.
*Piety cap (increases damage of spells amd powerpool)
*Spell Range (bugged at the moment but will be fixed no doubt)
*Spell Damage (obvious)
*Power % Bonus (obvious)
*Body, Cold, Heat, Crush, Thrust, Slash resists (CC, nukes/debuffs, melee)
*Con/Hits

Secondary Stats/Bonuses

*Dex cap (only affects initial cast, and heals etc/weaponskill)
*Str cap (weaponskill)
*+Flex/Crush (weaponskill)
*Matter resist (warlocks, but not 100% important, as targetted = dead anyway)

Tertiary Stats/Bonuses

*Healing bonus
*+melee % bonuses (obvious)
*Spirit, Energy resists

There are a few problems with making heretic templates. Caster heretics require caster stats (duh) but cannot equip the artifact ones, and therefore have issues getting range/damage. Gov gives 4% range and damage, Zo gives another 4%, and I believe ml10 legs give 2% range also.

Heretics resist pierce buff does NOT stack with passive or active arti resist pierce, therefore is not needed in the template.

I have been trying to see if it possible to get 100 str, dex and pie, keeping con at 75 or higher. I used GoV/Scalars/EoY/Snakecharmers/CB in this template, as I believe all are important. CS is also used for caps/power% etc. My current design for a flex heretic using these is:

After a lot of trying, it is evident that to get such high caps requires most/all items to have a cap, therefore generally be of lower utility.

Crush% is low in this template, which is a drawback. The PBAE resists and matter are not much of an issue to me. Power% could be higher, and I have templates that get 25%, but sadly this lessens other caps a great deal.

I have produced a lot of templates, some without +weapon, some pure caster etc, but as I say I am trying to produce an all-rounder to satisfy all options well.

Going to be near impossible to get 100% str, I'd prefer this with 8% range and 25% power:

Imo resist is far more imporant then str for a caster (primary roll). You are not gonna kill stuff in melee anyway or how much have you specced in weapon?

I think the resists in that template are pretty damn good.

Spirit and Energy aren't important as pbae is rare, as are Supression SMs. Matter I can't be arsed with, targetted = dead.

I was trying to get all the caster bonuses, and have 75str and 11 flex as well.

Read something about +Range bonus not working properly atm, the tics doesnt ramp up if the one u focusing on is out of your "normal" range. Dex does not improve our cast time on spells either just improves on our healing, and our healing sucks to :(

Correct about range, hopefully will be fixed, but in groups will be there for interrupts mainly anyway.

I know dex only improves cast speed for heals, monster res and initial tick of dot, but most +pie cap items have +dex on them too :)

It's impossible to cap them all. 2 related stats are easy to cap, for example Dex and Pie. However, to cap Str as well you have to use a lot of annoying items, which won't give you important things like power % and the such like.

I will try and make a template with 100 dex pie str +flex +crush AS WELL as 8%+ range and 25% power, but it's impossible so far.

I used Gov, Scalars, CS, CB, Charmers, Zo and EoY in that template - could make better ones stat-wise without, but I want the abilities.

Well yes, if like in that template I lowered caps and didn't have +flex fair enough, but I was trying to get that in.

But, imo you may as well not have str cap if you have no +flex/crush...which is the viscious circle.

Problem is your thrust cold and heat resists are gimped to f00k.

This isn't a criticism btw, just wanna get fresh ideas.

Which items did you use in that one? I like the qui.

You can swap the 1 rejuv on the lefty for cold resist. If you take down QUI to 19 you can have 3% cold leaving you with 23% cold resist.

Erinys is currently +intelligence, therefore pointless, no CB, no Malice etc for proc (assuming crush) :/ No egg of Youth.

Hmm, I didn't know that eriny doesn't work. Too bad.

This template uses an ml10 flex so crush would be another thing. CB is crap utility compared to what you can put on your wrist and I've heard that EoY isn't used much in RvR (plus it's utility is crap).

I'll try more tomorrow. :)

Need/want the stun/mez BT that it gives, and the AOE res of EOY really. Plus if go flex, want charmers for the proc, and same for Malice if crush.

What do you mean with 'currently' ? is there a patch inc which will replace +int stats with +acuity stats ?
