Hercules II GTS probs with ** vsync ** powerdvd **

I finally got me Hercules Geforce II but i have 2 quick questions :)

1) i was using my v2(sli)'s and have not had vsync tund on for years and the image was always ok (no tearing) BUT on the Herc it looks terible!, is there a way of stopping the tearing without halfing the frame rate (i have allready set the refresh rate as high as i could 160-100 depending on resolution) ?

2) it came with powerdvd (which is fine), but does anyone no how to enable hardware acceleration in it ?, the check box is allways grayed out and it says "this is only avaiable when the player is in stop mode", it just doesent say what stop mode is :) (and its not when the stop button has been pressed cos i tried that :))

ta in advance :)

Actually it *is* when the player is in stop mode :) I use PowerDVD and GeForce with no probs. The hardware acceleration was buggered until the latest 5.22 driver release.

i use the power dvd too on my GF DDR... and i did have a load of probs till 5.22.... however i still get some dropped frames when watching films sometimes which is odd. WinDVD seems fine, but the scaling of the picture is worse than PowerDvD. Any ideas??

Or...whatever you do, DON'T go to www.dvdsoft.net

This site has all sorts of stuff regarding DVD. It looks like a warez site, so I definitely wouldn't recommend going there...especially the page with tools.

DON'T go there...it's wrong to download loads of DVD players without paying.

hmmm

software decoding is just as good as HW decoding, maybe even better.

Wrong end of stick Frankie.

We're talking about 'hardware-assisted' software decoding, not hardware decoding (as in a board).

And to say that software decoding is better than dedicated hardware decoding is...how can I put it...bollocks!

hmmm

hardware assisted ?

i dont get that idea, is it done in CPU or on card ?. Does TNT2U do any hardware assist decodeing ?

about the quality, i heard loads of people with proper decoder card say that the quality from software decoding was better ?

It depends on player too though.

lol a dedicated hardware decoder card is better frankie... nicer image quality and faster

I ain't too sure if the TNT2 does hardware assisted software decoding... probably does. If so, the vid card AND the CPU do lotsa work.

You all need WinDVD2K it's available any(ware) geddit? +PLUS+PLUS+ DVDGenie cos most DVD player software doesn't realize that an Nvidia card can speed up DVD playback but DVDGenie does!
