Does anyone know of any site which has a Hercules 9800 (Non-Pro) in stock? I've checked

Overclockers.co.uk - Was on 4-7 days, now says "Pre-order"

Dabs - Says 3 - 4 weeks.

komplett - Says november 1st.

Thanks for any help.

just FYI, the reason i'm looking for a hercules card is that they're all made with samsung 3.3ns memory so it will fine for flashing to a 9800pro :)

I don't have any info, but afaik Hercules cards appear to be hard to come by at the moment - i couldn't find one either!

I fancied the Hercules 9800 Pro, it has some smashing cooling on it (copper hsf and copper sinks on the ram) but can't see one anywhere. I'm going to settle for the Powercolor 9800 Pro, it's £261 inc vat from oc.co.uk and clocks to 9800 XT spec; doesn't have the cooling like the Hercules but it is quite a bit cheaper.

Word to the wise: you might be well off waiting for the XT versions to come out (although looking from the wait times, you haven't got a choice), as the prices may well drop a bit.

I'm not so sure, the XT's are already over priced and the take up of the 9800 pro is still gonna be strong so i don't see the price dropping significantly.

I don't really have a choice, my only decent GF4 Ti4400 cooked itself in the AGP slot the other day - so CS at 10 fps on this GF2 isn't fun at all :(

maybe its CS thats shite and the gfx card has nothing to do with it?

btw is a 9800XT better than the Pro?

9800 XT = 412 MHz Core Clock, 365 MHz DDR Mem Clock ~£400
9800 Pro = 380 MHz Core Clock, 340 MHz DDR Mem Clock ~£280

The 9800 XT also has wizzardry in it to allow itself to overclock providing the temperature is suitable.

As for CS, believe me it's the GF2 :p - i hardly think it's capable of handling a 32 player on aztec at 1280*1024 with smoke grens going off. The GF4 was fine.

Well the price isnt that different actually, since the XT only comes with 256mb RAM and the Pro comes in 128mb and 256mb flavours.

9800 Pro 256mb - ~£360
9800 XT 256mb - ~£400

The only place that seems to have them in stock according to planetprices (Thanks for the link ECA) is tekheads.co.uk which says 2-3 days. Has anyone ever orderd from there? If so, what are they like? Thanks.

I'm waiting on delivery of an ATI 9800 (non-pro). Anyone know what memory they come with ?

They all come with different memory! If yours has Samsung (Any, 2.5ns, 2.8ns, 3.0ns or 3.3ns) it will be fine for flashing to a 9800pro but the newer ones all seem to have Inferion 3.0ns memory which isnt good for flashing :( Thats why i'm getting a hercules card because I've not heard of them having anything but samsung memory.

True about the mem sizes, but i've yet to see a benchmark that warrants the crazy price hike.
