HELP1 PLZ.Q3 LOCKS IN MENU?

plz help q3 full version locks in menu screens ..
If i get to a game selection screen its ok and i can play...
but going in to setup menu produces a lock up 90% of the time
iam desperate and need ur advice !!!!
System
500 celery
vd3 2000 agp
128 mb ram
qdi 440 lx M/B
SB pci sound

Mmm these problems are always hard to work out. Do you have directx 7.1 ? And do your other games work ok?

hard to say, it could be anything from your windows installation, additional software such as dx 7 as the man said, it could be the OpenGL driver for your graphics card, it could be such a lot :/ If you have some form of backup, and you really want to play q3 that badly (!?) then have a go at reformatting and reinstalling everything. Its long winded way of doing things but it works so well.... I used to reformate once a week at least

Now im on windows 2000 tho, been running stable for ages

Thx fer the replies lads...
Hmm i got Direct x 7 ...ill get 7.1
I uninstalled the sound card and it seamed to work ok for a couple of days and then went TITs up again .......
I hate to reformat but you may be right as this machine has'nt had a format in over a year ......and yes id love to ditch the mobo but things are to tight at the mo ....

reformat did the trick and its now sweet as a nut with much impovment in the old fps..
