This isnt really daoc talk but I've somehow got this toolbar on my computer and its from some website, it wont go away and I cant find how to uninstall it. (I cant find the actual program)

Sometimes when im on the internet I suddenly get asked if I want to download some other toolbar and then it screws my pc up and I have to reset.

How can I get rid of this toolbar?

Thanks.

I dont think its a program because when I open a window it says downloading from a website then the toolbar appears, I use broadband so I'm online all day that might explain why I've always got the toolbar.
Is there a way to block out the website or something?

Sounds like this hotbar crap thats been advertised on MSM lately, installs all flashy extensions to IE and OE, look in add-remove programs first as ive heard ad aware on this one can make IE unstable. Worth a shot anyway.

Mob try ad-aware , and if dont fix it , have you run msconfig and looked for something in the start up that should not be there ??
And if that dont work either set you firewall to block the homepage..yeah and check the add/remove software it might just be a flashy IE add-on crap something...

If my thread about dwarf tossing was moved - why not this one ?

Favouritism.... or poor moderation... :)

Download Spybot-Search and Destroy. It's free and very good.

It has a feature, in advanced mode/tools, to remove 'Browser Helpers" (which is what you have).

Get it from here.

Quoting from a previous post of mine:

Check your msconfig often, for stuff that shouldn't be in the startup section. Download TaskInfo, and use it. You can see ALL the open modules (*.dll's), and ALL the open processes, with full path of program execution.

Taskinfo here:

Proceed to delete anything related to that hotbar, or browser helper, or whatever.
If you know the name of the application, then it might be a good idea to manually search for it in the registry. (run - regedit - F3 for search) Proceed to search, and search again, deleting anything related to it, until you can't find it anymore.

Hope it helps.
