You must help me im at the end of my world and want to curl up into a ball and sleep forever.

I have a little problem with my PC and hopefully one of you guys can help.
System:-
AMB Athlon 2200+
Asus Mobo
128Mb DDR Mem
40Gb Seagate Harddisk
Geforce 4 440Mx Graphics Card
Soundblaster 128 Soundcard

I have just put in the HD & CPU, along with a new 420PSU, and a Global Win WBK38 High Performance Cooler.

The problem I am getting is when I try and install Windows. I have tried windows 98 several CD's and its coming up with the same problem. The problem occurs after the setup has done scandisk and starts to install. It goes to the EULA (sometimes not that far) and then pops up with the error

"SUWIN application error has occured .. cancel or ignore" if I chose ignore another error message come up and then sends me to the c:\ prompt. Above the C:\ is a load of numbers and application error, the numbers look like directory addresses??

Please see what you can do guys me head is hurting

Thanks

The reason im at my witts end is due to a crappy PC reapair shop. I took it to them when my pc was DEAD. They said it was the mobo, fair enough they changed it and it was fine, FOR 1 MONTH they then said it had blown again and wasnt their fault and was a power surge!

So I had new bits put in by me and still nothing, so cheers for the help

if your home's power grid is indeed prone to surges and stuff it may be a good idea (it's a good idea period) to get a powerstrip with a surge protector / ups with a spike filter thingy etc.
ups is the better choice imo. better for a 20p fuse to go than a 400squid poota :)

I suffered from this about a year ago and I managed to solve them problem by swapping out my memory, luckily though I had quite a few gash sticks of PC100 lying around.
