Well here goes... I have posted another tech help thread in the DAoC forum, but Im visiting here just in case some of you guys have a fresh idea or 2 to throw in the pot.

1) Processer - AMD Athlon 1.8+/1.53gig/
2) Motherboard - Microstar/Via Chipset/Via 4-1 443v
3) Memory - 256/
4) Graphics - Nvidia/gForce 2 Ti 64/Latest version of drivers downloaded yesterday from nvidia webby
5) Hard Drive - /80g
6) Sound Card - Soundblaster Audigy Player/Latest Drivers dowloaded yesterday from Company webby
7) Case Cooling & Other Cooling
8) Operating System - Windows XP Home
9) Error - Message/Problem: As follows

This problem started a few weeks ago, with intermittent screen crashes, I would load into DAoC and within seconds my PC would lock and my screen would become a solid block of multicoloured vertical lines. Bear in mind that this WAS only happening with online games such as DAoC and Asherons Call.

I got rid of all my old drivers, reinstalled all new drivers...no change... got rid of all new drivers and got older versions...no change...cleaned the inside of my PC thoroughly...no change...reinstalled all new drivers again...no change. In desperation I reinstalled Windows XP...change :) ? Yes....

Got worse :(

Now I cant play anything with a 3D component or it crashes to the same result. Solid block of vertical lines.

I have a benchmarker from MadOnion and another PC benchmarker XMark I think...PRIOR to reinstalling Windows XP the MadOnion worked great, NO problems with my card. After reinstallation of XP... CRASH!

The PC benchmarker shows no problems with my PC (which is at most 6 months old and was bought from new) except when I run the 3D part (2D test works fine) the 3D test immediately crashes my PC.

I have no other problems with any part of my machine or its use.

Hope someone can shed some light here.

Thanks in advance

Hmnn, sounds like a hardware problem. You've eliminated software, it affects all 3D graphics applications, with the card outputting gibberish.

Not much help, I know, wait and get a few more opinions before you throw out the card.

What I would do is test it in another PC, or borrow a graphics card to test in your box instead of that one.

In situations like these its really easy to just say yeah it could be this, could be that etc...

from what you've said i could suggest a multitude of things

graphics card hardware, bios settings, via 4 in 1 AGP driver...

Its best not to second guess.

If you have a big problem the best thing to do is put the bios settings on fail safe, strip the board down to ONLY what you need, install and add components and drivers as needed. One... step... at... a... time.

Make sure the bios is up to date, dont put anything in the 1st pci slot as it shares IRQs with the graphics (just my advice and i live by it) and best of luck to you rebuilding your machine.

Its a very long winded way, but like i said there could be so many things doing this you might as well start from the very basic and build up.
