Ok i bought ram on ebay and it was fooked.

here is the specification (according to mobo guide book) of the Memory

Memory: 2 DDR DIMM slots: DDR1and DDR2
PC2100 (DDR266) / PC2700 (DDR333)
for 2 DDR DIMM slots, Max. 2GB;
PC3200 (DDR400) for 1 DDR DIMM slot, Max. 1GB

Here my Mobo page at manufacturer website.http://www.asrock.com/Product/K7VT4A PRO.htm

Now what i would like to ask is. those that know about tech stuff (i dont im fick as fook when it comes to tech) ,

can you please direct me to a memory that is affordable that will let me get fast as possible speed. preferebly direct to the actual product cos i aint got a clue. bought one i thought was ok few days ago and it was fooked and wouldnt work.

one thing tho i aint got much spare cash so lets say £100 absoloute MAX
but id prefer to spend 50-75 iddealy :p

tnx for all "if any replys"

get the 2nd one as its ddr400 which i assume ur mobo can make use of. but even if it cant your next one will. says cl3 but itll do cl2.5 most likely, especially if your running it below ddr400.

1. CL3 RAM won't ever work stable with CL2.5 settings, there is always problem with semiconductor latency timer (independant on working frequency)
2. "Take to new motherboard" - forget it, you won't... Your new motherboard will be very probably DDR-II one (so goodbye old RAM) or DDR-I with dual channel (which I strongly advise to avoid since DDR-I ends within few months).
3. IF you want to go in future DDR-I solution, get good brand memory (Corsair preferably, they are awesome), you can make it working in dual channel mode if you add another same model to your new motherboard and very probably you won't have any problems with that
4. IF you avoid DDR-I in future, get cheapest DDR-I 400MHz (200 MHz real clockspeed) CL2.5 memory module avail on market, everything else is waste of money since this RAM module won't be usable with new mobos (any Intel or AMD AM2)

IMHO rather save money and spare for Intel Conroe solution (Q3 this year).
