Every now and then inside tribes the game will freeze totally, making me have to ctrl-alt-del it, this has happened sinse I installed the Q3 graphic drivers last weekend.

I doubt it has anything to do with 1.6 as it was happening before

I've tried everything, reinstall old 3dfx drivers, reinstall 2d card drivers, even reinstall tribes but to no avail

Any other suggestions?

Q3 has done this to the machines at work too, delivering multiple runtime errors, and associated OpenGL32.dll errors. Subsequently, its affected a lot of other applications that use 32 bit acceleration.

It sounds like you need to use something like CleanSweep or similar to eliminate any and every trace of Q3 test from your machine. Either that, or as a last result, a reinstall.

This raises a point that I meant to ask people earlier; the q3Test (1) worked fine, no problems. the q3Test (2) seems extremeyl adept at buggering everything up. Anyone else, apart from meself and Stamper experiencing this ?

Speaking from a TNT-U owners point of view here since I`ve had no experience of Voodoo`s after a v2. The new Q3test2 runs flawlessly here. Test1 was very unstable on TNT`s but the new one is rock solid. I`ll point out that installing GLSetup is a surefire way to arsing your system. Why id have went down this road I`ll never know. The best drivers for your system, Q3 or not. Is there ones from your OEM.
I have a CLabs Ultra with the Clabs beta2.04 drivers installed. This dispells another myth associated with Tribes1.6 . You don`t need the nVidia 2.08 ref drivers and infact I lost fps when I went up to these. For Clabs 2.04beta`s are currently the best.
The id certified glsetup driver set is a timebomb. Stay with your oem drivers and only use glsetup as a last straw to get Q3 working less you risk everything else breaking.
