Hi all BarryFraggers I'm totally new to online gaming, and I don't really know what to do...The game all my friends said I should have is Counter-Strike.They showed me this FPS, and I loved it.But as I'm new, I don't really know how to play on BarrysWorld.If ne1 could tell me how to enter a game against other BarryFraggers, I would be very grateful.Thanx a lot

First Update your CounterStrike. The current Version is 1.4, its about 105mb for the Retail FUll Update, and about 35mb for the MOD version.

Mod = You need to Original Half Life installed to play it
Retail = Stand alone, you dont need it.

Then get GameSpy or somethin to Update your servers and stuff.

Get IPs from GameTiger

Add the IP off gameTiger into Gamespy and connect... voila

Or just use the halflife game browser. You have to download the master list first, it takes a while. Then search through it for the Barrysworld servers (you can arrange the list alphabetically by clicking at the top). Right click on each Barrysworld CS Public server, and select 'favourate'. When you have done this, click filter, and 'show only favourates'. Then when you click refresh, it will just refresh those servers. Double click a server to connect to it.

You will have to mess around with your control configuration, most people have the left and right arrows set to strafe (NOT turn), and use the mouse to look/fire.

Used to us the HL browser thingy for ages. Never had many problems with it. Though now with Gamespy 3D I find it so much easier to keep track of players, etc.

Once your on a BW server (and believe me they are the best around) your going to die a lot to start with but use the 'First Person' camera when you are dead to follow the lead players. It's a new camera angle in 1.4 and will tell you a lot about how 'good' players play.

... as a caveat to this statement do not follow a player called Dollysh33p as this will lead you to the think CS revolves around the hunt for a guy named Jobbie

Wow...what a long winded process, gamespy supports master servers. Simply add a new master with the address hlmaster.barrysworld.com:27010 and you will have access to all the half-life based BW servers.

Is it just me or does Gamespy 3D innacuratley report the number of players in of BW's servers????

Even after refreshing i'll join a server to find it's full.

Just to confuse the por fella, dont use gheyspy, use All Seeing Eye from UDP Soft

Its soooo, much better.

altho i believe GameSpy has some Trojan in it "ICQ<somethin>.dll" seems harmless but still gets detected by AV software none the less

I think gs only logs ppl who have actually 'joined' the map, and not those currently loading the map.

ALL SEEING EYE is a 100% better than gamespy .........

gamespy has the gator prog in it [ spyware pure & simple ]



But as ASE needs to be bought to enable more than 4 buddies in ya list..............
I suppose u lot will continue to use the free crap which is gamespy

well GS has unlimited buddies for ya buddy list, and its free, but you say there is Gator software in it? Not in my version, coz as i say i aint and wont update it (plus i have mine um.. registered) heh.

If i can "register" ASE somehow i would give it a bash heh

The halflife browser is quite good but u really want something like Gamespy. Although i have never used it, ( i thought it was crap) i use pingtool, however support for pingtool has packed up now, another good one is All seeing Eye
might be worth trying that.
