Help my Quake3 please :/

Can anyone help me please...

I have a:
AMD K6-3 450
128meg ram
SB live 1024 (or somethin like that)
voodoo 3 3000
etc...

And in quake 3 and some other games they don't run much faster fps than my old PC
(p200 32meg ram voodoo 2)

In q3 i get fps of 34-ish and thats with EVERYTHING on low, at 640 res,
also my quake 2 used to be pretty ok at 1024 res, now its gone pretty slow,
i now run it at 840 res for better fps,
i think it might be voodoo drivers or maybe my soundcard.

AMD k6 chips really are pants for games.. thats more then likely some of the reason.. shouldnt be that bad tho :/

I had major probs with my V3 when I first got it - try the WickedGL drivers - there's a link somewhere on www.upsetchaps.com, can't remember where exactly.

The drivers did wonders for my v3 tho...

there is a 3dnow! driver for quake2 that implements 3dnow! optimisations
u can get it here:-

this might help u up ur fps a tad

try playing it at an average of 13 FPS on a PIII 500MHZ.

I think i found the problem

FUCKING ICQ

I never use it but always have it open but only on offline

if you have over 100 people (i have 224) it takes up LOTS of RAM (so i heard)

but anyway i turned it off and it makes online gameing alot better and well offline smoother

I think its with any i used to have 99a which was good, icq 2000 = SHITE (the one i am useing)

but i can't be arsed replaceing it
