I have just descovered i can ping things on this new firewall at work.

only through port 80 though.

so no 27910 or any other.

i need someone to come online and run a q2 server using port 80.

please tell contact me here or through email : dapea@hotmail.com
before the end of today, and we can arrange a test.

Thanks.

Firstly, I don't think that's going to work; a Q2 server binds UDP-port 27910, whilst web uses TCP port 80. Hence the the firewall will probably only permit TCP traffic on port 80.

I think this is what Zarjazz's BWProxy is designed to overcome; one of its options is to make a TCP connect to another proxy on port 80. However, you need something to connect to -- and, AFAICS, the public beta server on gloria is down. Perhaps if you smile sweetly at the powers that be...

The Qizmo QW proxy certainly also does this, so you could always play QW instead... :)

If you can make a direct connection to a web server, then you can still use BWProxy's TCP connect. However, if you're forced to use a web-cache, or the firewall intercepts http and routes it through the cache without your knowledge, you probably can't.

To determine the latter, try telnetting to a web server on port 80 and type:

HEAD / HTTP/1.0

followed by a blank line. If you get an "X-Cache" tag then it's being intercepted.
