If you look op in Britannica there is nothing called mez :p
But there are the following words that starts with mez:
Mezereon - Old world shrub with clusters of sweet-smelling, lilac-purple flowers.
Mezereum - The dried bark of any of the Daphne species
Mezuzah - In Judaism, a parchment inscribed with the passages Deut.
Mezzanine - Low-ceilinged story between two main ones.
Mezzo soprano - A voice lower than a soprano and higher than a contralto.

there was 5 other words that started with mez, think it might be one of thise you broke.

Seeing as the word/skill in question is in fact "Mesmerise" - shouldn't it be Mes rather than Mez ? ;)

Yup. Adding z to everything is an Americanism.

The word 'mesmerise' is actually from a guy's name, Franz Anton Mesmer. Go google for it if you're interested.
