got my cd for a 2dn account..daughters...installed on 2nd pc running xp.

first pc is set up as a proxy server using proxy+ running win xp and both pc's connected with ethernet and crossover cables.

when i try to use doac on 2nd pc it wont connect to the patch server..201 error.

internet browsing works fine with ie.
i run a firewall on 1st pc with the adsl connection, but even with this turned off no joy from doac on 2nd pc.

any help appreciated.

I use windows internet connection sharing, and we have 3 pc's hooked up. Works fine for me and my bro. (3rd pc is dads for web browsing)

We dont use any firewall except the windows XP ones.

I dont know the program you use, but our setup is great, only difference is I have a hub, but again its all handled by windows connection sharing so it maybe is sightly different.
I would suggest you try winxp internet connection sharing cause it works great for us :)

Hope you solve your problem though :)

edit: friend of mine uses WinXP connection sharing too with crossover cable, but dont know if he connects his second pc to DAOC.

Proxy+ is an iffy program for anything but http and ftp access.

Should try using XP's built in ICS service to use the 2nd PC, that will work with no difficulty.

Agreed, you'll need to mess around with the proxy's mapping services to get DAoC going through it.

Whilst ICS isn't the best thing around, it'll work a lot easier than a proxy.
