im trying to use ventrilo for guild RvR atm, but im getting interference any time I use the "push to talk hotkey" and begin 2 speak, does anyone know why this might be? Or how i might be able to fix it (there's no sounds in the background so it isn’t that ;))

A short walkthrough of how to get rid of this would be great if anyone knows! I’ll try the idea's as they are posted and reply as too if they worked or not (im guessing the mic may just be naff tbh)

You have some speakers close? or what's the interference you're talking about? :)

yea i got speakers close but i've moved the mic to test that and i get the same interference, i cant really explain the interfearence, somone (miss) described it as the kind of sound you get from the TV when it isnt tuned!

Ah.

The connector to your microphone is probably damaged/broken. You might have pulled the mic too hard while it was connected or something similar.

(Try fiddling around with the cable a bit and see if you get rid of the interference at some special angle.)

You can either fix this yourself if you're handy by opening it and making sure everything is connected, or last resort - get a new mic. :D

If your soundcard's next to your graphics-card, that might cause interference... I always try to place cards as far away from each other when I'm building/upgrading computers, old habits die hard...

ok i just tested it without the mic even being in the pin socket using the ventrilo test, it seems i still get the same interference even without the mic plugged in, does that mean its more likely to be the fact the soundcard is too close to the graphics card?

Yes, that or your recording setting in Sndvol32 is not set to microphone :) ( more likely the cards, but might be worth checking )
