Methinks seeing troops roaming the streets of central london may frighten people a bit, airports are slightly more understandable

It's probably just an attempt by the government to make us think, 'oooh oooh we are under threat, I'm in favour of war with Iraq after all!!!'.

As, apparently labour is at it's most unpopular in a decade, over Blairs stance on Iraq.

But we're not that stupid are we?

Yes we are.

Where "we" is the tabloid infected masses, I regretfully agree. Public opinion will switch back soon, Rupert Murdoch wants cheap oil for the west...

Lets just get in there and get it done... the news haven't got anything new to say about it so lets get in there get it done get out and head for North Korea. Or we could go the France route and keep sending more and more weapons inspectors until finally they out number the Iraqi people 2 to 1

As the onion said ""I can understand France pussin' out, but Germany?" :D

More amusement

Heh all the peace loving hippies are in for a shock when the Al Quaeda suicide bombers start running around blowing themselves up.

What would be amusing is if the US and everyone else decided not to go to war and the Al Quaeda suicide bombers still attacked, that would shut a lot of people up.... oh wait no it won't, they will probably just start crying about the human rights of the poor people who feel the need to blow themselves up in crowded public places.

As for the war on Iraq I don't care if we go to war or not, I don't use oil so the price of it means fuck all to me. My general feeling is, if the people of Iraq want freedom then they wouldn't take up arms against the US and they would revolt against Saddam, less of them would die in a revolt as we all know that americans have a shit aim and end up killing everyone including friendly allies with flags painted on the roofs of their tanks.

Anyway get back on topic, I think tanks at an airport are not going to scare anyone other than the tourists.

I think the forces deployed at Heathrow are indeed a prod to the general public "oh look are you shitting bricks yet? lets kill Saddam and we don't need to do this!" etc.

Btw over the last 25 years since Saddam started to work his way into total power over Iraq, the CIA and US Foreign Department have continuously tried to woo/bribe all Iraqi opposition parties/bodies.

At the last count there were about 80 of these political/tribal bodies and the CIA are still bemoaning the fact that its hard enough to get 2-3 of them to agree on any one thing never mind the whole lot.

Past thoughts were that until the Iraqi opposition becomes united then the USA funnily enough would NOT support a regime change in Iraq, as whatever took over would de-stabilise the whole region even more (for example the majority of Iraq are Shia Muslims, Saddam is a Sunni Muslim and has always treated Shias as second class citizens even though they make up over 80% of the Iraqi people...and the Shias have a natural bent towards Iran. The US has always balked at the idea of a Pro-Iranian govt in Iraq, fearing that it would lead the way to a merge with Iran and be an even more serious threat to the US).

As the US and UK are indeed now pushing for a regime change its been mooted that they will have a puppet leader waiting in the wings...probably financed via the good ol' CIA.

Don't get me wrong, Saddam is a murdering bastard and I would happily be the one to pull the trigger...but this IS about the oil IMHO.
