Healers buffing in groups?

Hey all,

Have recently moved from Hib to Mid, and have noticed something a bit strange - is it just me or do most Healers in Mid not buff their group mates unless specifically asked?

In Hib, Druids/Wardens/Bards will buff everyone as a matter of course. The majority of Healers I've encountered enter the group sporting full buffs, and then ignore the other group members unless asked to buff - and even then, they seem to only buff the things people ask for...

Is it just me having a run of bad luck, is there some reason that Healers don't buff that I'm missing, or do people in Mid just not appreciate the value of buffs, especially to tanks?

could be ya gettin a lot of newbie healers, and shamans

i buff grps so far,but tend to be picky bout who gets what ones etc, ie hunters get a str/dex buff in steada plain str, tanks get both, casters get acuity, along with any mana users.

never had a prob meself with any of me chars, only thing i sometimes have to ask for is POM for skaldy and thane

Well, most Healers in Middy will have crap buffs, as until 1.51 the Augmentation line sucks.

So Healers will buff themselves when solo, as although the buffs are crap, they might mean the difference between life and death. But in groups, I only ever buff what people ask for. I do generally ask as soon as I join the group what buffs people want tho :)

Druid buffs are like Shaman buffs, Healer buffs are like Bard or Warden Buffs, i.e. poo. The only good buff Healers have is POM :/

Whenever I join a grp (normaly RvR) that has a healer im normaly buffed fully unless they are low on conc, then I just settle for a POM.
Normaly in RvR if a healer has conc they tend to give casters a POM which is nice, and thx to all that do it :)

hmm. if the healer has been playing a longer time u dont need to tell him what buffs u need. he will know and give them to u.
and if u dont get all the buffs u want, its because the healer tries to give all the players in the grp the buffs the chars need most.
cant fully buff u all

i'd say most likely that they are inexperienced healers mate, most healers that have played abit know when and what to buff each class.

but occasionly u do need to be asked because ur half a sleep looking at health bars :)

Zigix: 20 buffs, don't be fooled by the text saying you can only have 16 when you cast number 21. (I had 21 buffs active once for some reason BTW)

Normally a healer will buff the group when he enters. If I run around solo, I have most if not all buffs active on myself, especially damage add, to at least have a slight chance of being able to handle agro'd mobs ;)

Almost any good healer I've seen will cancel his own buffs and at least give people attack speed buffs, con buff and either dex/str... In an average group the amount of buffs will not really be a problem. If there is only 1 healer in a FG and no Thanes will self-strength buff, well, then you might be a little short and should start looking for a shaman/healer ;-)

I always buff people in my group. Always. However, I choose what buffs they get, not them.

If I am the only healer in the group, then the warriors get str, dex, con buffs, runies and me get a pom, and then spread the rest around - mostly con and af buffs - because I don't want people to die, so give them more chance of survival. I have had many light-tanks ask me for str buffs, or thanes for pom, or various other things - the answer will be no. If I'm the only healer then I want the warrior to be taking tha aggro, and if I have to minimise the damage other people do in order to achieve that, then so be it. Skalds are the main problem in this situation, because of thier shouts.

If there are a couple of healers/shaman, then I'll buff for maximum damage output, sure I will, because it's easier to keep you all alive if you're not relying on one person to do all the mezzing and all the healing at once.

Agree with Vell.

Smart buffing is a must for healers. Max out your group's tanks, half buff your assist tanks and defensively buff the shadowblades. If you're grouped with an eager shadowblade and you increase his damage out put. The hassle of trying to keep him alive is just not worth it.

ditto,

as a rule,

acuity to mana users
the str/dex combo to tanks, (if i know it's a tank with a rambo complex at lower levels they will get less of a damage dealing buff)

shields to everyone, and additional HP buffs to tanks, and if poss, healers (given we tend to take aggro, and our delicate constitutions;))
