The other finger wagglers get a reduction to casting time with higher dex.

Is this true of healers? Will giving myself a dex boost make a difference or am I stealing a buff from someone in a group that could make better use of it?

I see dex as one of the least useful buffs a Healer can give to him/herself in a group. Healers get around base 60 dex. It never increases without items. Our own dex buff probably increases our casting time by like 0.1s or something silly. Healers are generally not chain casting spells, unlike pure casters with higher base dex, increasing every other level, who will probably hammer down the DD button until the mob falls over ;) If you play your Healer so an improved cast time of 0.1s (or even 0.5s) matters to the survival of your group, you are doing it wrong :)

Ultimately, in group, buff yourself with power regen first thing, then buff the group. If I have any leftover I give myself cons, af, str, dmg add, dex, att spd in more or less that order.

i usually give myself a dex buff, oh and what do you mean healers don't chain cast? true we don't chain cast too often but have you have been in a group with 2 thanes convinced they should be the pullers and have half of your groups mes/roots resisted chain-casting certainly a lot more frantic when your trying to keep your sacks of meat (tanks) alive ;)

still i guess its a personal choice really, i could choose not to give casters a pot on the basis that they don't do enough to warrent it (and i have done it, mentioning no names but you know who you are you lazy "i'l leave pbt on and go afk hoping nobody notices me" bastard :p)

ohh one last thing, you can't steal a buff from the group because if you look at it that way all the buffs belong to you and your the one being charitable by not charging them rent by the hour :D

i wasn't complaining about the group, just using it as an example to point out healers do end up chain casting more often than you'd think. i personally love it when all hell breaks loose, makes things so much more interesting that letting pbt do all the work :)

Doesnt dex give u a bigger chance 2 evade attacks, thus the chance 2 live longer?

I'm pretty sure i cast faster when i have my dex buff on, and even faster when a druid also casts dex buff on me.

To answer the evade question: It is based on dex AND quick

Not sure about healers, but when we tested clerics there was a noticable increase in casting speed with increased dex, so I doubt it is only the "dress wearers" (whats up with a nice dress anyway?).

As for buffing myself with dex or saving it for the group; I usually dex buff myself, just in case it saves someone from dying just before a heal would hit em. This is probably more a throwback to being a cleric, but it does make me feel better.

I always dex and con buff myself too. Used to af buff myself too before I got epic armor, but now my af is capped anyway:p
Remember dex also gives you a higher chance of blocking with that tiny shield. Might save your life sometime.
