HEadphones and Mic for gaming, which one?

I want to get a pair of those fully enclosed heedphone/mike combo.
Also, I want it to be good quality of course.

I have heard there's a brand out there that somehow simulates the EAX (and whatever other sound standards) sound effects, for example, if someone is standing to your beck left, you'll hear it coming from the back left...not sure how it is possible for headphones, but there must be specialist headphones for gaming out there.

The Plantronics LS1 Headset appears to be very good for the price. It features EAX sound, and a very good quality microphone.

But, if you want something a bit bulkier, better, (and hence more expensive), then opt for the Plantronics HS1 Headset.

Edit-
Reviews of both:
Plantronics LS1
Plantronics HS1

If you don't like the sound of any of them, I really would reccomend Plantronics. They are great :D

I use Plantronics Audio 90.s, very good and fairly cheap, but you need a reasonable sound card for EAX/A3D don't you also?

Or be a real junkie and buy the Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer :D

Clickie

Says $80, so you should be able to get it for around £60. Which doesn't sound that bad.

Edit- I just realised that awful pun in the last sentence. It wasn't intended. I promise.

It's hardly a necessity I know, but I actually found that tribes is one of the games where having better positional audio helps the most.

Greetings.

There are numerous cordless headphones on the market, but ive been looking for cordless headphones with mic. Has anyone seen or tested cordless headphones with mic?
Would be very nice without the hassle of entangling the cord everytime I move around my desk :)

There are a few products on the market, but I've found that quite a lot of them are pretty bad, due to lacking sound quality and shoddy design. You could always buy some good wireless headphones, and sellotape a microphone to the side :D

I use the Philips Cordless Stereo Headphones (SBC-HC075), and I wub them, but I'm sure there are better ones on the market.

Will keep searching for a half decent quality wireless headset with boom mic, though.

Yeah. I find that too, I have 5.1 surround sound :). Helps a lot when playing LD as you can here turrets fire at incoming cappers so you know where they're coming from and as a capper knowing where chasers are behind you are... and so and so on. In conclusion, it helps lots ;).

Just trying to get my hands on a Sound Blaster card and going to buy a Surround pack 5.1 is pretty tempting but will see, perhaps I settle for 4.1.. :)

Cant wait tho, nice watching DvD's with surround :)

You can pick up a soundblaster audigy card really cheap nowadays, and as long as you're not a sound tech. nut then it's all you need imo. A half decent set of 5.1 speakers aren't too expensive either. I think my speakers + soundcard which I bought together was around £150 or so but can't really remember at all.

Good sound is a huge improvement :)

I got this absolutely massive subwoofer + surround sound package for £80 a while back...

Sweet mother of Jesus :D

Put it up full blast and you feel like the screen is jumping out at you! Not to mention the fact that the whole house shakes with the roar of that almighty subwoofer :)

Edit- This is for the TV :p
