Will they improve games?

Any idea whats a decent one to look at?

You can't improve the quality of the graphics if they don't support HD, its basically more definition to images, most games recently aren't good enough, graphics cards won't be able to run them unless its a really good card, but you won't notice any difference if you don't have a tv / monitor that can show you the detail

8800GTS/X supports HD gaming... You need a screen that supports it now.


EDIT: Why do people buy the equip, when they don't know what it supports? Is it because it's new?

I'd personally wait 6 months and see the next cards they release; hell; even the R600s looks better than the 8800.

Maybe because they are the fastest cards on the market...

I'd personally wait 6 months and see the next cards they release; hell; even the R600s looks better than the 8800.

Even though it is still under NDA? that said it should be better given its a much newer card.

got advised to get 1 of the cards when i was designing my PC. Not every1 knows everything about computers so you take peoples advice

@Ball: Doesn't matter anyway, if he got that card he got a mobo that supports it, with other equip. Especially as it's still the only DX10 card. - Something like 40% faster, iirc.

great monitor, but 16ms you wont see the difference unless you have them side by side (next to a 8ms monitor), and even then it's only a minor difference

Using a Samsung 206BW in combo with a 7950GT card and must say it sure is nice. I can put info boxes to the side and have a lot more view on the surroundings.

If you are looking for a good monitor try the FP241WZ from Benq. 24".

Smaller monitors decrease the factor of getting schizophrenia and the like tbh, should bear that in mind if you play 24/7 and get no sleep Thus 24" too big tbh

atm i have my PC connected to a normal 17in monitor and beside it is my HD TV. I have them dual screened so i can use the monitor as normal but if i want to watch movies etc i just drag it into the HD TV

So Sparx, you have a HDCP gfx card on your PC ? Since WinDVD/Cyberlink require HDCP gfx cards/Monitors/TVs to enable full HD playback.

Otherwise they downscale the image.

i've been watching movies that i ripped from naughty places and they are in HD, can see things perfectly as if they were being played through xbox/HD DVD player

Which would lead me to believe that my gfx is more than capable. Got the nvidia 6200 512mb, just updated the drivers too

i dont use media player either i use VLC (not sure if that would make a difference i am new to HD)

If it has been downscaled then its not enough to notice. The quality is fantastic, can see every strand of hair, colours are amazing can see each individual leaf of a tree etc
