With John Adams, a seven part mini-series based around John Adams, during the first 50 years of the United States.

Its epic. Each episode is over an hour long, the costumes and attention to detail is brilliant. Superb CGI only where needed, great accents all round, good characters (lots instantly recognisable). Imagine all the best bits of Amadeus, Master and Commander, The Patriot, etc. It looks, sounds and is beautiful.

I'm loving it. I wish we had HBO here, because I'd be a subscriber for sure.

You were doing well until you mentioned The Patriot. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing how HBO deal with Preacher. I think even they'll struggle to it justice.

The Patriot, while not being a particularly great film, had beautiful cinematography and costume design. So ner.

I think "fucking travesty" is the actual phrase you're looking for.

Yeah I watched em all, final episode is a bit pointless and sad but I suppose its nice to end the story in fullness. I thought it was worthwhile and it taught me a bit about the whole thing which I didnt (and still dont, frankly) care about ;)
