...really, really, REALLY, sucks.

Anyone else suffer from it? Normally I don't get it that bad, but 'cos it's been so mild this Spring the blossom has really started to make me sneeze like no tomorrow :(

I'm not sure if I get hayfever, but I certainly get "summer" colds, whenever the weather changes quickly I get a cold, this happens warm to cold and cold to warm.

You are one LUCKY bastard. I'm allergic to it all, every mother fucking thing. Trees, grass, dogs, you name it, I'm allergic to it. My hayfever is a nightmare, I've passed out from it once. I'm on the strongest prrescription hayfever medicine available, and it has no discernable effect on me. This is accompanied with considerable amounts of nasal spray and eyedrops. It's been getting as I'm getting older, my hayfever is a lot more mild now than when it was a few years ago, but it's still utterly awful. I feel like utter shit for 5 months of the year, it makes going out in summer (which you invariably do, and want to) a very painful experience, with me constantly sniffing and feeling utterly shit.

I only wish they hadn't stop with the injections you could have... I know some people that had them and haven't experienced hay fever since. Sadly though, I heard someone died after having one of the injections (maybe more than one) and this was the reason they stopped them. A right royal pain in the arse. If my hayfever (which kicked in already - about a MONTH ago) becomes an intrusion again this year (like every year), then I shall look into alternate treatments with my GP, and see what they have to say.

Non sufferers, I find, are very unsympathetic towards it, as they have no idea what it feels like. It's depressing, it's painful, it's a constant annoyance 24/7 for months of the year, every year.

Exactly the same with me. I have recently discovered the sheer joy that is LemSip Max Strength which clears these bastards up within a couple of days for me. I'd also recommend those balmed Kleenex tissues to stop your nose from turning red and flaking off. They rock also.

Guy at work strongly recommends a herbal thingy called Echinacea with vitamin v avaliable from Healthspan on 0800 73 123 77. It sounds like the Pill in that you take them for a month or two, have a week off, then start taking them again. Apparently he used to get seasonal colds but hasn't had one since he started on this stuff. Couple of years he's used it, I believe.

Don't get hayfever from pollen, but I get the same symptoms from chlorine & house dust (ok, the excreta of the house dust mite, pedant!). The latter is great cuz it means I get out of doing the hoovering!

Poor Waz :( You sound like my dad. He gets it terribly. He's on nose spray and eye drops, with pills too.

I just get the watery eyes and sneezing. Sometimes wheezy so need an inhaler.

But get this, I found that smoking actually helps counteract the sneezing and itchy eyes. Perhaps by flooding your body with so much poison it stops the allergy :) Though your lungs do die the death :(

Hayfever sucks.

I used to think I got a cold every summer when I was a kid until I found out what hayfever was.

I used to use nasal sprays but they gave me nose bleeds.
The past two years I've been on Claratyn Plus (spelling?) which is like an uber version of it. Works very well. Only side effect I still get is well itchy eyes, but thankfully that's not started yet this year. I'm just coming over a cold that I got when the weather changed and the hayfever is creeping up on me so I've started taking the tablets.

I used to use benadryl but although that unblocked my nose, it blocked me up in *other* places. And made me really grumpy. So I stopped using that.

It sucks having sneezing fits of 10 or so sneezes with breaks of about 5 seconds between fits. Really annoying. Especially while driving! Eek!

The end of the summer is good thought, August. It's mostly cleared up by then.
