HAVE YOUR QUADS DROPPED YET?

After playing, ctf public, BWCTF league and numerous others, i find it hard to understand why there is not quad drop on LMCTF.
As a quad whore anyway, i feel it would make a much better game as quad drop for a few reasons.
A lot of people, when they hear incoming quad, tend to run like fuck (done it myself when had little health and a tech to lose

. But there are also those who, against all odds will stay, protect and serve for their team. If they kill the quaddy they damn well deserve whats left!
This also turns the tables, if you go into an enemy base with a friendly quad, the odds are in your favour. But if he dies, and the foe get the quad, your in shits creek.
This adds an element of risk to quading, and from a strategy point of view, makes it very exciting imho.
The other thing is nearly all, to my knowledge, leagues run with quad drop. So i think its time to get used to it.

Also i believe random quad spawn will make it better as well. This is a feature in LM Tourney. The fight for the quad will be lots of fun and even if you get it - you can lose it if we have quad drop on. It makes a fun or maybe frustrating game, but lets be honest if you get the quad and kill all the quad whores youll have to hide your erection

Speccy also suggested fall damage and team damage for the public. Well to be honest the fall damage i can deal with and i feel it would make you a better grappler, but the number of DP's we get at the moment, when firing hook and dropping a packet, you tend to drop to the floor

Might be frustrating, but it has my vote anyway.

As far as team damage, well it would make a goood game, but can you imagine all the ranting going on when your team-mates kill you. And we have the assholes who go out of her/his way to spoil the game for everyone by killing teammates. Sorry Spec but the server will die very quickly. Similar to what used to happen in tribes. Unfortunately Tribes allows you to vote on kicking someone and LM doesnt

P.S. Oh yes! and another thing....... WE NEED TO CHANGE THE MAP CYCLE!!!!!!!
After the "sz_overflow without overflow set" errors I think we are all bored of the same maps. Random maps? Is that possible, ok you may play the same map quite close to each other but we do that anyway

Hear hear.
Quad drop I agree with, but team and fall damage no chance. Using the grapple to stop yrself is easy, and even easir if u have isdn, so fall damage for a modemer will be a total bitch when lagged.
You get many pricks taking out yr armour but to be able to kill yr own team m8 will totally kill off the lm server.
The option to be able to vote to kick a player or map choice, even thou the same map can be picked again and again (allow a number of times a map can be picked within a given time frame?)

But one thing BW pls change the map cycle on the lm server, also why is the pings i get higher than L-fire.

Quad drop - pls.
Falling damage - fine by me, even though i am a HPW.
Team damage - i'd like to see this tryed out to be honest. I don't know if it'd work or not but if we could perhaps get a test server running for a few hours (or give someone admin rights for a few hours on the current server) we may just be surprised.

Regarding Trebz' comments there are sort of two replies to this imo. As a general reply, i don't think these issues are specific to LM, more a general malaise within teamplay Q2. Individually, the only one i can empathise with is the ammo whoring, and i don't think its a big problem (i see it a couple of times a week). Aliasing - don't do it, i'm more worried about trying to recruit an already clanned player

Right Im replying to this cos-incase you aint heard yet Im doing an lmctf league, if were gonna campaign to get the flags changed it makes sense IMO to change it to league settings, selfish maybe but MOST of the clans who are playing on the BW lmctf server and that is MOST of the people [under whatever feckin alias

I think we should at least try team damage for a while. Considering that many of the LM maps are huge this server would seem the perfect place to trial it. It would also improve the few LM maps with loads of cells in base becoming a BFG defense so much.

Im all for Quad drop but I disagree on the falling damage and team damage.It will become an lpb server only then.The lag at the moment for modemmers, particularly at weekends, means that most of us hit the floor before the grapple bites and seeing as a few lm maps are tall,Trembling Towers and Temples of Terror for example,would just kill of these maps.
Also the lag on firing a wep would mean that teammates could be killed even if they were not in yer line of sight when you fired and as most of the weps are dispersion weps the bitching would outway any benefit it may gain.

I agree with Trebz on the alias shite, its lame and we all know whos behind the alias's most of the times anyway.As for railgun, I guess I'll never see eye to eye with Trebz on this.Its the most effective un-quaded wep there is in Q2 when in the right hands, and it takes weeks of constant use to practise it and get it down to an art so I disagree that its used by llamas, they have practised it, they earn the right to use it.
However I was lucky enough to get my skill with it when the server didnt have the lag it suffers now so its gonna be hard for any moddemers to gain that skill on the server.I dont use it anywhere near as much as I used to, Im not as good as I used to be cos of lag and infrequent use and occaisonally I will have a Railgun only night to keep the skills uptodate, other than then I certainly dont use it ALL the time, it aint feasable for modemmers anymore, but I guess Trebz point is aimed at LPB's./me looks at Joker/Kev

Anyway back to the thread, we should change the map cycle moreso because of the frequent server crashes.Since LM5 was released I doubt the server has managed to cycle ALL 29 maps (map19 exluded remember) without crashing and we end up playing the same maps over and over.
The biggest problem tho is teams, they are rarely evenly matched and when we do get a fair game they are good matches only to be spoilt on map changes.Most of the players are overflowing on map changes so teams are never the same from one map to the next, Reds could for example drop 5 players on a map change as opposed to blue losing 2.Blues get control of the map, get all the techs and then cos they have techs they refuse to swap.
That is the problem with the server and I doubt changing a few ctf_flags is gonna make much difference until the overflow problem is sorted out and teams remain balanced.

Hey folks

Well, can only say that in "our homes", Inet and Knucklebone, we have Quad drop on, and i think its like ted said, you want some reward for taking the Quadguy out.
Also more fun to surprise the other team
when they think they have a Quad attack going on.

We have falling damage on, and no one is complaining about that either.
Falling damage makes you plan your moves alittle more if you're a HPB.

We also have weaponstay on.
This gives ofc less strategy play, but more action

well errrrmmm thing is m8 .. If you start getting killed alot by people with the chaingun (which can be a very effective weapon) is that going to become a LLAMMA'S gun? ... It goes back to the old "scrap the BFG" argument... it's in the game!!!! I think theres nothing worse than getting fully tooled up with power shield, tech, plenty of ammo just to be wiped out by a quad BFG .. or a rail for that matter .. but the fact is thats quake2 ctf for ya .. people need to start playing the game and aim to get good at using the weapons themselves instead of calling people LLAMMAS just because they have learnt use them ...
well thats me done ... oh well i might as well say .. as a HPB I am ok with fall damage and quad drop .. I think the team damage is a bit hard to swallow but then again I'd give it a go and see how it plays .. I think it would cause mayhem on public servers but in a clan match where you have alot more organisation it would be ok

This has always bugged me, I read somewhere that BFGs are not affected by Quad, can anyone confirm this ?
