I rushed out to by DAOC the weekend it came out have have been in Hibernia the hole time. It was my first ever mmorpg (i had some gfx card issues with Everquest) which my explain why i am still only a level 43 Warden. Well that and the fact that i can only play about 3 hours a night.

Lately im feeling less drawn to Hibernia. I have a great guild & guild mates but im not sure i can do this XP thing anylonger. Last night is the first night of Chosen not play daoc & got my ps2 out instead.

Does anyone have any advice/words of wisdom to keep me going it love to hit 50 but.......................................

ps. i hate fins. Im not getting up at 6 in the morning & taking time off work & besides they are so boring.

Your not the only person to feel that way around the low - mid 40's. I myself and many ppl I know felt the same way. All I can say is it will get better, take a short break or stick and go afk with bubble up ;)

I think it's Innis that sometimes makes you go mad.. it's cursed you know :) Don't wait around for a grp, make one, get into EZ and earn some nice XP. It is tough, but at 45 no more red vader scum and those last 5 lvl's go much faster than the first 5 of 40.

Have fun!

Hehe m8 I having the same problem xp above lvl 40 is a nightmare. So I'm using my alts instead. When the 1.53 patch comes out xp from lvls 40-45 should be easier... plus you will get more xp for quests around that lvl. So I'm going to get my two main characters to lvl 40 and wait for the patch. In the meantime I have started a character on pyrdwen midgard. Give that a go it's nice to play in a different realm with a different character. Been exploring there recently. Try that for fun... :)

Erekrose I've been feeling exactly the same, I've been finding other things to do in and out of DAOC. Making the DAOC movie, rvring and sometimes standing around connla helping the newer characters get on in those first few levels has helped my moral a bit.

I'm determined to get to 50 though eventually, fins are boring as hell but I see them as the fastest route to 50.. now if only I could get in a fecking fins group! :)

Well it pretty much is a waste of time if you're not having fun.

It's a game and it's meant to be a form of relaxation or entertainment.

I did one group at fins and decided never to do that again, because the motivation behind it is not fun but XP.

If you want to, come to Innis tonight, 8pm - 8.30pm, I'm forming a group for EZ (probably warshades coz I just love it when we pull 7 of them and survive :D).

Most of the time I find we have alot of fun in EZ - not that focused on XP really (tho it's good :D), or drops (cept for me coz I want that damn ring! :p)

oh.. and I find it helps if you stop worrying about your level and focus on other things (like helping lowbies, talking crap in /gu :D, giving Alpha easy rps , killing stupid number of high level baf mobs just for the hell of it  etc :p )

Erek it's not just you mate. It's taken me months and MONTHS to get from 40-44.5 and I have just about had it trying to level also. I could name about 30 characters I know of that were created when I was level 40 and have gone level 1-50 in the time its taken me to go 40-44!!
Fins are just not an option, as like you, I don't play that much (most nights 11 p.m. ish for upto 2 hours (usually less), so not long and bad timing too!!), innis groups to bin laden get about as much xp as solo kills and people say groups goes to SC and EZ ....... but I never find em!! ;)
3/4 level 50's from my guild took 4/5 of us at level 40+ to CF last week and we did some nice xp that day, which seems the only way I can get xp at all now. I find it helps to play alts often .... and to try to get them at different levels, so you can at least do some levelling somewhere, i.e. Parth farm, spragg den, cm, and maybe a class that can solo well for when you cant get groups.
It's a poor solution really, but helps a little ........ until they also get to 40 ish, and then I guess i'll try alb/mid alts
There are some real nice people in hib, but there are also a whole bunch of people who just want to get to 50 as quickly as possible, any way they can. People who dont have the time, or feel inclined to play like this will find it difficult to play in this environment. Do feel free to message me, or indeed those in my guild who im sure are looking for xp most of the time and would love to help out ...... and benefit from the xp ;)
Chin up mate, you will get there eventually and then wonder what all the fuss was about :)

Think the main problem is the time i play which is 10pm to 1am.
I do have some alts. Blademaster 24 & Ranger 16. I really enjoyed those low levels & when everyone was new it was great. Wandering around playing for fun. I find now though with alot of alts people are just chainpulling & its all xp xp xp.

Guess the most frustrating thing is not being able to get regular groups with the same people as they level quicker than me.

Guild keeps me busy & i hope to see it through to being one of the best guils in Hibernia.

Schizoid thanks for the offer mate but im on too late :(

Dragil good to see you again i remember you with my alt Corum at siab ring. Wheres that tank buddy of yours? what was his name? Bet hes level 50 by now.

Ch@meleon think maybe ive got a bit into that XP XP XP thing myself which is a little sad. I always detested that. Thanks for making me realise.

I think a couple of days on the PS2 & ill be back.

Thanks guys its good to know im not the only one feeling like this. Feel free to message me in game any of you. If your on between 10pm & 1am then we would appear to have a basis for a good group & hopefully we can have a laugh.

plus i got a great guild who have helped me xp sometimes and tomask who is a god for taking me lvling :D
lvling a char to lvl 50 is a pain in the butt but it gets a hell of a lot easier 45+ if u do get sick of lvling go make an alt get him to thidranki which is great fun :)

Hehe I see you haven't got your ranger any higher lvl then :)

My m8 was 'Notion' he has played some other characters... but like you he got annoyed with trying to get past higher lvls... I think he got to lvl 39 then stop playing the game :( .

I'm glad to hear that :)
I'm not trying to argue the point at all, just curious though ...... how does it become easier? Is it the xp you get for the mobs, or something else? What I mean is, 45-50 is easier if you go to fins (I can get on the list now, its just that you give up after 12 hours or so waiting ;) ) or if you manage to make some good EZ/CF groups? I'm guessing that you mean it's tough to get into these groups at 40-45? Just want to know what's ahead of me, that's all ;)

This worked for me....get yourself into a fun group, then if its open get into DF,do princess or nights succs etc.

If DF is closed visit a few xp hot spots..cover your xp bar with your compass dont look at it till you are about to log ok.....
all the time you are xping get to know your group..talk about whatever floats your boat..we`ve even had football quiz time etc.

It`s not what your doing, it`s who you`re doing it with imho....
if you get the right combo you will soon forget you are xping.

Anyways gl:).

Too right !

41-45 nearly drove me out of the game, you struggle to hold groups together, CM is to low, EZ is too high, its VERY hard to get a RvR group. All I can say is stick at it mate its a hard transition there is no doubt about it, but it is worth it, once you break 45 xp'in at knights and Siabra City is great fun and RvR is great.

Basically mate, I am the king on the unlevellers :D Mr Unleven bread himself...
I have spent ages sitting on various levels, appearing to never go anywhere. Mostly dur to the fact that it is extremely tough for me to dedicate unbroken hours to getting levels. I have loads of friends and guildies who do try and are willing to drag me out to level. I sometimes get pissed off about the fact that I am still blue con but recently I have found it quite challenging to play an effective char against all those red cons.

Some people don't group with me in rvr because I am too low, those are the kind of people I don't want to end being grouped with anyway. I look positively on the time I have spent in DAOC, all the absolute laughs and fun. I no longer get uber stressed about levelling, when I get the opportnity I level, when I don't...I go spend time with all my mates in the game, and we see how many times we can release ;)

Don't cheat yourself into thinking that without a 50 behind your name you are worthless, just be the best that you possibly can, and have fun doing it. There is lots about this game that people miss on their sprint to 50, it's nice to take the scenic route :D

I found in my experience that one of the hardest stints of the exp treadmill is 40 - 45. The 45 - 50 journey while just as tedious, demands renewed determination. And as with all good things in life the hard work and focus you spend rewards you with a greater sense of personal achievement.

As for "The king of the Unlevellers" ;) im always available for rvr with you m8, if you ever get sick of that damn treadmill!

No idea how you level 50 guys did it. I'm soooo pissed off with DAOC in general now that I really feel like selling up and leaving, at least that way I wont be tempted into returning lol. XPing seems almost impossible, Fins groups are too hard to get onto unless your unemployed, a student or have holidays. Innis groups mean almost certain death in my experience and there is nothing else :(

think I'll have to give up leveling and just play rvr, I dont feel like wasting anymore time playing this daft xp game ;)

what Innis groups are you in?

I've hardly ever had a fg wipeout in EZ (cept for tonight.. thanks Toki :p), and usually don't have even one death, and I've been going there from lvl 40.. and DF raids are great for XP not just drops :D (thanks censi btw)

Hehe..i havent played much in hib but i do know that grouping isnt that easy to get even at low lvls.. :)

My main here is only 19 and ive found myself soloing more then ive grouped..:)

but every time i get tired of xp'ing i go to one of the frontiers just for the laugh... :)

if not my chanter pet can be annoying to the enemies... :D sure i die alot but hey.. if they wanna earn 1 rp of killing me i dont really care.. :) and my played time is probably now what most ppl have at mid 30's low 40's anyway.. :) the only thing i always stick to are to have as much fun as possible.. i always have leveling on 2'nd hand, if theres a chance for a good laugh i do that insted.. i might get lvl 50 sometimes but thats not my main concern, what i really want is fun.. lvl 50 will come eventualy im sure but that day im not even thinking about :)

Dont give up mate.. have fun insted.. do whatever u think is fun and dont go nuts looking at your levels.. :)

i played a ranger for a couple of months after release, got sick of soloing and rolled a mentalist cos danita or delura (cant remember which) told me the guild needed one, turns out i soloed most of my levels, even the 40+ ones, but always lots going on in guild chat to keep me occupied

anyway once a warden hits 45 isnt it on average something like 1 -2 weeks till they hit 50 ?

You sound like Ebonn - can remember him whining all day long down in Innis.

You lvl 41 atm - so fins won't be available for you in the next 5-7 lvls (until a group is that nice to give you a leech slot).

Best would be you try to START banshee groups. My best groups I had were started by stealthers. I know it's amount of effort you need to put in but when I watch your video file I can reckon you a dedicated player.

If you don't wanna start a group get on the list and then play RvR, alt or do crafting. There is always something to do (imho).

You will do it, i'm sure. Atm I have the same troubles in guild since some don't reckon that lvl40-45 the lvling is a lot slower as it was before.

Yeah i told myself tgt hell manytimes when i actually was lvling my 2nd char.. sigh.. stupid me :p Wont ever lvl another one.. i think..

Anyways the best way to get xp is always to make your own group. The first times you do this it takes alot of time and paiciense. I donno how many times i used over 1-2 hours to finally get the whole group moving..

Trick is if your a bard/menta :p start making knight/warshades group at lvl 39. becaus you already got mana/end song 4 ;)
Just pm lvl 49-48's and aks if they wanan join a knights group and most of em will be soo tired of fins that they will jump on the questian ;D

anyways gl :)

m8...

Lo Erek man :)

Just wanted to add my two penneth..

I felt exactly the same when I reached 40+, it's really hard to have the will to carry on, esp when you can knock up an alt and xp kwik, or get the playstation out :) I just took a break tbh, and for a while too, then when I came back and saw me m8's about to hit 50, I finally thouight it would be possible in a short ammount of time, so I just hammered it, and afore you know it, your there, one thign that heolped me from 42-44, was sticking a piece of card ofver the xp bar and telling myself I wasn't there for the xp. After 44, It was made easier cause I'd already seen teh progress, yep it was slow, but if you stick at it, before you know it your choosing the colour for your epic armour :)

Keep at it m8, it's a good feelin of satisfaction to know your've got there, and then we can get the alliance out n tqaking a few castles eh ;)

Cya later m8.

IM BACK!!!!!!!!!!

And can i say loving it.

My XP bar is covered with me compass & those 3 green circles. Which are more often than not yellow triangles.

Thanks for all your kind words & advice.

Went out with 5 level 50's the other night to help them with their epic. Had a blast. Then the kind souls (from Dark Order) took me out to some Fins in the frontier & levelled me even though it was late.

/salute Dark Order.

Im not even looking at my XP bar before i log. The game is much more fun now than ever before. If anyone needs a warden for anything give me a shout. Except i cant put duvet's in covers. Never been able to & i think i never will. I shouldve out more points in dex.

Anyway hope to see some of you in game soon.

Thanks for the invite amadon by the way. Maybe next time.

Having the compass nicely placed over the xp bar was a sanity saver for me.
I don't want to think about where I would be without the help of the úber-all-covering compass.
