Wot you going to India. Lucky sod.

I was to go there last month on business but the firm wouldnt let me go due to the fact that the foreign office website claims that its not a recommended destination for British citizens.

Of course that's the proper meaning of Mint, aside the two other acceptable meanings:
The place where money is made(giant printing press).
A thing like a Polo.

Bloody Northerners

I am back from India!! I had a great time!

It was quite an experience! Not too much of a culture shock as I have lived in South Africa and the townships are a bit similar...but India is definitely poorer and its more wide spread.

I did have a bag stolen which caused me a lot of inconvenience.

India is a pretty safe place....except for Kashmir!

I went to the India/Pak border at Amritsar which was a fun experience! The atmosphere was like a sporting event! A lot of jeering at the Pak's but in a good natured way.

If you plan to go to India avoid the so called Government Tourist Offices!! They are licensed by the Govt but they are privately run and do not offer you the cheapest deals...in fact they are the most expensive!! I always took the train to get to different cities which is very cheap and there is a foreign tourist quota and usually a foreign tourist booking counter at the station.

I went to Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Agra. If I go again I would go to the Rajahstan region as it seems to be quite a varied. I would recommend going. Its a cheap holiday once you get there...and have nothing stolen!!

Its good to be back in comfy surroundings again though!
