hardcore overclocking

ok peep, heres the stuff
me has a p3450, and its running fine at 500, therefore with a 75 mhz agp bus, which me tnt2 U can take. Now, i can run it at 550 but after a few mins it crashes, i think the agp is running at 83 mhz at 550, which is 124/33
now the whole system will run at 600 mhz, but when i try to use the tnt2 in 3d mode it justs crashes dead. Thing is i can run q2, or anything in software rendering fine, dont crash at all, ever, for hours i tested it and it runs fine at 600, but crashes when useing tnt2 3d. so basically i have memory, mobo and cpu thats runs at 600 no probs. all i need to know is how can i get the tnt2 to run at this speed, which is an 89 mhz bus, or is it impossible, and is there a mobo out there that'll allow me to run the agp bus at a different divider, or is there another 3d card out there that can handle 89 mhz, like the next gen 1's, say the geforce or v4/5.
hope it makes sense, i aint good at trying to explain problems.
thanks

Rayte - da boss man is ere so lets get on wiv da bangin info

Frankie - for an explination of how certaint FSB's effect the calculation of PCI/AGP speeds and the effect on the systems components using the said buses check www.pcinfo.freeserve.co.uk/ppga366.htm - theres some info there. BTW i wrote that article

558MHz - agp speed at 124MHz FSB when using a 2/3rds divider = ~83MHz yea - kinda high.

Now u say the system runs at 600 better than it does at 558. This leads me to believe that its NOT using a 33MHz PCI bus... I personally believe its running a 41MHz PCI bus which is causing HD probs so it locks up - unlike at 600MHz using a 33MHz PCi where all is fine (so to speak).

There may be a solution to get stability with your TNT2 at 89MHz AGP speed using a 133MHz FSB - clock your graphics card lower than standard. The standard ultra speed is 150/183 for core/mem respectively. Use a speed such as 140/170 - it'll still be fast as u r using such a fast agp bus speed.

But in all honesty - 89MHz is on the limit for sure for most 3D agp cards such as V3, TNT2 and anything before these cards.

Now the latest next gen cards seem a lot more tolerent of crazy agp speeds. Its been said in a good few geforce reviews that they are stable at 100MHz AGP bus speed!!! Therefore this would be an excellent option for all the PIII 450 @ 600 boyz using a BX chipset mobo that only allows a divider of 2/3rds for agp (we wont bother talking about 1:1 FSB/AGP ratios - irrelevent with such high FSB's)

V4/5's cant be commented on as yet as none have been allowed for testing to the major hardware sites.

Savage 2000 reviews aint too popular as yet - more on those at a later date i guess...

Mobo's that allow a 1/2 speed agp divider for 133MHz FSB's are actually available! They use the VIA Apollo Pro 133 and 133A chipsets. the 133A chipsets are a bit better - more stable and a bit faster.

Im pretty sure boards using these chipsets have UDMA66 support etc etc as they are direct competitors to intels latest i820 chipset.

Such manufacturers with VIA Apollo Pro 133A boards include soyo and aopen. Soyo would be yer best bet in the UK...

Hope this helps - if u want me to find some links for reviews to VIA chipset mobos just ask.

And seeing as we r talking bout overclocking - dont forget to see wot we got at www.clockspeed.co.uk

Ta m8 - I'd rather know what im on about than spout loads of bullshit like most of the hardware selling operators... fuckin dodgy geeza's some of those folks are.

One day i wanna go full on and start a proper business - i want to provide quality support and help to customers and im only gonna do that if i know about what im selling - theres not many companies who can truly admit they know great detail about the hardware industry and the products they stock...

They know fuck all so they teach us stuff which in turn means fuck all and then we buy stuff that has fuck all use... or something
