Two questions:

Ive just got a second hand HD (Seagate Barracuda) for a comp Im building for my kids. I think it must be one of these SCSI ones as it has a different connector to what Im familiar with and no master/slave jumpers. What sort of cable will I need to connect it to an Intel Bx MB.

My own comp has both IDE slots used up (Cd rom drive and a seperate burner on one and two HD on the other) Is it possible to connect a third HD? If so how ?

I take it you'll need a PCI SCSI conroller then. Since I have no SCSI drives I'll leave it to someone else to recommend one :)

aye, it's possible. you will need to get a pci scsi-card. be aware that some of the cards have a "bios" and some don't. the main function of the bios on a scsi-card is that it will allow you to boot from the scsi drive if you want to. no bios = no booting.

adaptec have several cheep[ish] non-bios cards that work pretty well and offer all kinds of connectors. there may be other makes but I only use adaptec. be careful/have yourself advised well on cable choices too: scsi cables can be quite expensive, ie. take the drive with you to the shop/your mate's garage ;)

another thing: scsi drives require an 'id number' set. this is usually a jumper somewhere on the front/back of the drive. remember master/slave etc.? this is the scsi version of it. snoop around on the internet for settings/guess a setting. never choose 7 tho, as the cards usually pick 7 as their internal id.

good luck :)
