st aptricks day is to celebrate...or rather comemerate st pat himself on the day they believe he died......he brought Christianity to our happy little isle and *cough* banished all the snakes from the country (we had snakes....honest ) hes the patron saint of ireland and thats why we celebrate him



as for the day guiness was invented...we call that "let there be light" day

I gave all my "spare" (read: weekend money) cash to terry wogan on friday night >.> completely forgot it was st patricks day and had to stay at home and do nothing on saturday night. I did drink most of the alchohol from my houses drinks cabinet in celebration, though. Mixing 1664 and rum didn't quite equal guiness but it was interesting at least.
