I *could* if I really tried and was willing to freeze my arse off on platforms for hours, or (lol) cycle 3 miles in the snow.

How lazy/stranded/unaffected are you?

Well i'd say at the moment i'm 'rather' lazy.

Left my job at the end of last year, have sent out a coiuple of CVs just because i have one ready and sending it is a 5 mintue job, but that's about it. I'm not even really interested in a job right now.

Enjoying the vacation.

My first job today is at 2pm and it's a 5 minute walk away. My next one is at about 4 and a 3 minute walk away. I think I'll manage it :D.

I think you're missing the point - im talking about the snow stopping people from getting to work today, not getting a job in general :p

And we know you got made redundant anyway, you keep going on about it!

I'm sat in bed doing fuck all (uni holidays etc) while my mum and younger siblings all trot off to one of the few schools in the country that appears to not be closed.

AHAHAHAHAHA!

I certainly don't keep going on about it and it's not a redundancy but...you have your fun.

Yes, missed the point as in scandinavia we have this thing called balls and little snow won't stop us

Well I missed my alarm, and am now sat here having breakfast. Work is a 10 minute walk away, but I got to go through some shit side roads, so we will see.

I was meant to have a driving lesson today, was hoping I still did, but my instructor has gone very quiet :)

I already picked to WFH today - I could struggle in but no point really when conditions treacherous and I'd either have to walk parts of it or wait for a non-existent bus.

I got into work no problems, chucking it down with snow now so looking at leaving before lunch

The bastards gritted the road in the village, though I had to dig the car out.

Hold on a minute, when you first mentioned it ages ago, you said your boss offered you some cash if you left (ie voluntary redundancy, not strictly speaking the same as quitting - it's agreement to be sacked gracefully). Did that change or are you just trying to save face?

Well redundancy might just mean something else there, but it was a choice to leave and it wasn't due to lack of need.

Why should i try to save face when i left? :eek7:

You UK peeps are weird.

I got into work, but it took a lot longer than usual. I'm probably going to leave in the next few minutes though. Hardly anyone else made it in and management are worried I won't get home so they said I can leave when I want. There's no way I'd let the snow stop me getting home but I'm not going to tell them that.

I'm assessing the situation each hour.
Right now, I wouldn't drive down the hill because of the ice.
It might be different in an hour or two once the sun and the salt have had a chance to do their stuff.

I've got till about 12.30pm to decide if I should at least TRY to get down the hill for work. Right now, I'm 50:50.

Worst snow I have ever seen in this neck of the woods (Berks/Surrey/Hants border) - about 8 or 9 inches. I pretty much decided I'd be working from home as I drove back from the station last night, about 5 miles, and saw snow settling on the A roads around here by 7:30 PM.

A few friends down south are getting excited about the snow, bastards. Nothing better than not being able to go to work due to snow!

I'm in work now, journey in wasn't a problem. Journey home later is the one that I'm concerned about. To top it all off I have to attend an interview in the centre of town today... yay :(

I walked in, although a day in the warm seemed very appealing. It isn't too bad on the main roads in Brum but there are cars abandoned on the hill I love on and after a ding at the weekend my ABS isn't working properly, didn't want to risk it.

Lordie I feel old though, I had to have a sit down and a rest after walking up a hill. So very unfit!

no issues today. tomorrow on the other hand, I have to go to Amsterdam and last time I did that on a snow day it took me 5 hours to get home. Seeing as you're all getting inundated with the white stuff I am thinking I should stay in Arnhem.

On the other hand it is my assessment day hahahahahacoughcoughcough :/

I got my train at the normal time (albeit the train I was boarding was an hour late), but got in ok at the normal time.

Only real difference was the train was nearly completely empty so actually managed to get a seat, which makes a REAL change. :D

No probs coming in, but its coming down heavily now, and Ireland is even more hysterical than the UK at the sight of snow so I'm not looking forward to the journey home.

6 inches of snow overnight where I am in Berkshire, and it's not stopped snowing all day. As all the schools have been shut, I'm off for the day looking after the little 'un whilst the missus works from home, and we'll swap over tomorrow.
