Half Life & Windows 2000

I am having a problem with Half Life and Windows 2000, which I have recently installed onto my second PC. When coming to run HL I get an error saying i need Service Pack 3 or above.

I would guess that HL is picking up the NT OS base and thinking i'm running NT4 without => SP3. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to get this running? I cant go without my CS!

I have no probs running HL with windows 2000, did not even try to do it until i installed service pack one though. But HL performance and stability is not as good under 2000 as it is under 98, so i always play under 98. I suggest u do to.

Works perfect under W2K Pro on my computer.

Works for me... I know that doesnt help, but I've not installed service pack 1, but I have put most of the critical updates on it.

I have win2K and halflife works perfect on my machine too.
make sure your display card drivers are correct and up to date. only thing i get probs with is gamespy goes a bit odd.
im not sure if win2K has any directX built in or not, I use MiniGL on a Voodoo card. maybe its that ??? Some1 elses turn now....
