They are all injured arent they?

Had to laugh at the recent press coverage asking if rugby is too dangerous. You dont get league players crying about it! :D

I think you need to look for the SOCCER bit in Soccer AM ;)

Chev Walker laughed when he snapped his leg, then went on to score, shagged seven women and still got home in time to watch the News at Ten!

tbh I think it is stupid they are whining about it as well.. what the hell do you expect when you step on to a field to play a game of rugby?

That's just so 20 years ago! Your views on Union seem stuck in 70's & 80's. It has moved along a lot since then. As for ball skills, I see league players forward pass and drop the ball (knock on) as many times as I see it happen in a top flight Union game. They are no better.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that the best union players have the skills that rugby league players have? Thats BS. But its not unions fault because of the way the game is played. No wonder they are trying to get the rules changed. There isnt a union player who comes close to players like Billy Slater, Jarryd Hayne. Darren Lockyer, Greg Inglis or Jonathon Thurston. Why do you think rugby union clubs are trying to tempt them with stupid offers. I know for a fact Hayne recently turned down a deal with a french rugby union club that would have seen him earn over $2m a year to re-sign with his current NRL club, stating the fact he would go backwards if he played rugby union.

That happens.. not like every Union club is trying to steal League players. Look at when Wilkinson kicked the world cup winner.. offers of small fortunes from NFL Clubs for him to go and kick.. he didnt go. There are union players who could go and play league, and very well.
Bit of a pointless argument, you play league and love it so ofc you are going to argue its better. Vice versa. I hold union in higher regard because I, personally, prefer the rules. Doesnt have anything to do with the skill of the players who play the professional game.. I play union so thats what I watch.

HW was making the point that there is no difference between the skill sets when there obviously is. But this is down to union as a whole and the way its played. It breeds negativity. Oh look, we have a penalty in good field position. Lets kick it rather than letting our fly half and outside backs show what they can do. The backs dont see enough of the ball to hone their skills in match conditions and when they do, the structure is terrible. Admittedly, ive seen backs run good lines, but there are no dummy runners at all, to give the ball carrier options. You watch some NRL and the attacking structures are out of this world. The halfback will have 2,3, even 4 options making it harder for the defense to read the attack. It doesnt help when your sole game plan is to kick for field position and try to force the error to give you cheap field position.

This isnt a slur on union. I played the game for 4 years and I made some decent cash out of it. Its just as a whole, it has some deep rooted problems that need adressing. The game is pretty much dead in australia and even in NZ, fans are stopping watching the game and turning to rugby league on the back of NZ's RL world cup win and the excitement on offer.

With a few tweaks here and there, I see no reason why union cant kick on and become the second most played sport in the world

Union in England is bad, i'd disagree that that is the case on a worldwide scale. Look at the quality of the current NZ and SA teams, and Wales on their day.

So england are 16-6 down and camped in NZ's 10. What does wilkinson do? Tries a drop goal.

As I said, breeds negativity. The ball should have been flung out wide, dummy runners agogo, running good lines and the defense would open. But teams are too scared of losing the ball.
