Hi all
was reading an oldish issue of PGC magazine the otherday and came across a review of Haegemonia, i wasnt sure about it but having played all my RTS's to the point of boredom (C&C Red alert 2 and Generals, Homeworld 1&2, Starcraft, TA, CC2&3 and a few others) i took a risk and bought it.
I hadnt heard anything about it from me m8's and only seen this one review, so i went into it with an open mind, not expecting anything specail.
first off i've gotta say WOW! NICE GRAPHICS!! the first few seconds ingame where amazing, it said in the review that it was 'truely beautiful' but i wasnt expecting anything like the kinda graphics in this game, this has to be the best looking RTS, if not the best looking game, that i've ever played. and thats saying somthing.
the gameplay is really cool, while getting complex in some areas when battles are raging in two different solar systems, but that just adds to the tension. the controls are easy to get to grips with too.
just recently i remembered how i've always wanted a game like this, homeworld style combat, but with resource management and an experince system so that units 'level up' similar to a RPG. there are upgrades and all the standard areas of most RTS's but its all put together so well that it makes the game great.
its kinda like the old game Star Wars Supremacy, but its put together as a game, rather than a management game with space combat tacked on.
what i want to know is: Why isnt this in the top 10? its prettier than homeworld 2, its bigger than homeworld 2, the solar system layout is really cool and almost unique nowadays. the AI is good, the campaign is awesome and overall it looks and feels like a great game, so WTF is it doing on PC worlds shelves for £10??
Discuss!
EDIT: oh and the music rocked too
