Guildmaster advice

For anyone out there considering being a guildmaster I would like to give a little advice,I have been the proud guildmaster of Clan Bearhawk for over 4 years and the reason why it has lasted so long and is going so well is very simply the great members we have in the guild,we have irl meetings and many of us have been good friends for 4years+ from UO onto Daoc where we have made many very good friends here.
What has started ot irritate me more and more here is players going out of the way greif playing and making other players time in the game outright miserable, the thing that annoys me the most is all the guildmembers and guildmasters claiming more and more often "HE or THEY are individuals they ARE NOT the guild and do not represent us in any way shape or form" well to be perfectly honest this is a complete load of <insert expression here>.
A guild IS made of its members and if people say "He/she doesnt represent us" they couldnt be further from the truth, sure no one knows what a new member is like when they join but the key to it is if you have complaints about a member-investigate it and if its true then kick them as they ARE representing your guild and how others see you, whatever you do dont be under the illusion that they do you no harm and represent purely themselves, dont be misguided by the fact of ohhh hes level 50 so we dont wanna lose him etc,Im never interested in new recruits levels as its the PERSON im interested in not their level.

And before anyone decides to contradict our rules in such matters they should read this posts and my reply as GM :

I couldn't agree with you more. A guild is the sum of its members, and its members' actions. To any player who would say, "what my guildmate does has nothing to do with me or the rest of us", I would ask them why they bothered to join that guild in the first place.

Agreed

I agree.. by signing to a guild you have to think guild first and as such should think before bringing the guild's name and emblem down.

I will also support any member of DA through and through, unless the facts (not stories & lies), state otherwise. Then and only then will the GM's of DA decide what the best way of handling the matter is.

Guild's have rules - if you don't accept those rules then why be in them?

I think tho it is not fair to judge the guild over 1 individuals actions until the issue is dealt with. I do not appreciate seeing DA's name plastered all over the BW forums, when the matter could (YET AGAIN!) have been dealt with in-game.

I have been GM of DA for 5-6 months now, shared with 3 others. I like to think of us as a fun, friendly bunch who work as a team - and we do. That isn't to say we don't all as people make mistakes, so to judge over one action is unfair I think - of course dependant upon the action.

Agreed

A guild it just people how could the actions of those people not reprisent their guild :)

As a GM my self we only invite new members we already know and grp with regularly (ppl who ask that we don't know just get a "sry we're not takeing new members at this time") so we've had few problems with "bad" members.

I worrie about CBH though, not sure if ur aware of this but u have 189 members with 501 chars (acording to http://www.duskwave.com/daoc/) which is at least double most other big guilds (7 times bigger than my guild).
I just hope its not going to go bad, it would be a big blow to hib to lose 1 of its biggest guilds.
