Hi, I have recently started to play some middie after getting bored with the endless albzerg on Excal. I'm now looking for a family guild (seeming as I can't find my way around.)

Atm I got a lvl 13 shammy, named: Yir SaturnsWrath.
a lvl 5 bonedancer named: Bonedancer.
and a lvl 7 hunter named: Smalljohn.

so, who do you recommend :) ?

That's because there is no official roleplay server because Goa say the it's all roleplaying. Prydwen is the unofficial rolepay server ... or at least it used to be.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up, Though the name of my chars, is my choice alone I should think.

<Bows to xtro> And I second the Klan Nidstang recommendation. Lots of nice guilds about, I'd get in trouble with someone by trying to list them all. Feel free to pm Krill in-game if you want some advice. I'm from such a small guild I always tend to be grouped with other guilds and I keep a file on them all!

There's roleplaying and roleplaying.

Myself, i'm not too strict on using "common mmorpg jargon" as usually its easier to type "inc" then "i taunted a horde of monsters and they're storming towards us" or something similar to give an example. Choosing a "decent" name i find common courtesy towards other players though.

Tons of respect for people that can stay 100% in character (eg his eloquency mr Ganbatte and his sidekicks Krill and Esola ) and if we all try to use a bit less m8 and thx and more friend and thanks the atmosphere will brighten up for sure.

Agreed, though I still fail to see how "Bonedancer" or "Yir" can be an Offensive char. Name :)

<coughs splutters> What!!!! Sidekick!

Anyway, I agree with you Klav about how to talk, when in the frontiers we all use the shortened vocabulary you need to survive and even when battling monsters. And there's always the handy use of ooc (out of character) when it just can't be said in character.

ooc: Roleplaying doesn't have to be some kind of sub-Tolkien language, 'and lo, the sun riseth and setteth' that lots of people think it is. Rather I see it fundamentally as staying 'in' the game.

There are lots of great guilds to join, you don't necessarily have to join any of the big ones as i know of a few small guilds that are fatastic.

It just depends on what you look for in a guild.

There are a number that are purely PvE, some that are RvR, others that are just for fun and some that try to get all of the above.

Klan Nidstang are a great bunch you can't go wrong there but with so many peeps now rolling low level alts I think you'll find a plethero of guilded peeps to have fun with and get to know.

Whatever you decide to do.. Welcome to Midgard and have fun!

Well, since some of my guildmates chimed in, I'll join in for the sake of it and wish you the best of luck finding a guild that is suitable for you, Adralend. Take a look at the various guild websites, get to know some members of those that look interesting to you. I can't really recommend a guild in particular because I don't know you, nor do I know what a 'family guild' is (is that like a family business, only it makes less money?).

And Klavrynd, although you have made my day with that comment, I prefer not to see them as sidekicks since that would imply some cohesion and cooperation. I prefer to keep my enemies as close as possible, that is why I exist as a Nydian. I have gotten used to sleeping with one eye open.

I know its not my topic.. But..

I've got a couple of alts I'll be moonlighting with on Prydwyn as well.. (check sig)

Im not after a particularly serious guild, rather one that enjoys a good laugh and can help direct me round your fine realm ;)

And of course, I'll happily extend the invitation to any of you who fancy a trip round albion...

edit: I meant to add a thanks to the people who'd buffed me/offered me much needed advice over the last couple of days.
Im like a poorly coordinated fish in a desert..

You don't need to join a guild - if you don't want to. I've got a L26 Sorceress running around on Excalibur that never bothered to join a guild, and people accept her into groups happily enough.

My suggestion is to look around and ask the people you group with. Asking for 'any random guild to accept me' on here looks.. cheap.

Cheap.. perhaps a little bit, however.. these aint my main characters, I dont know the realm, let alone the levelling spots, and posting here is a decent way of breaking the ice..

comment seemed a bit unnecessary.. oh well, each to their own

Well, if Ayam understand 'sidekick' as a team against him, then he can fully count me in, standing close to Esola, my brother since birth, and Krill ('coz he's big and strong and I'm small and weak).

A note to Klav:

Inc! in the frontier is something I can't refrain from using.

However, for PvE I have a nice macro : /macro /g --**--> I am starting a friendly struggle with %t ! ! ! <--**--**

OK, the sentence is cheesy as hell. But it's a nice tip for those who don't know it that %t in a macro will automatically insert the name of the mob/player/item you have selected at that time.

(which means you can announce a fight with a grave, a drop, a bag of coins...)

Why do all threads have to be some sort of hostile?

This nice person is just asking for help, why not just give it to him?
And if you don't like the names then keep your mouth shut. It is his decision, and you don't have to care.

You (as in general population not you as such) don't have to care about famines in africa, war in the middle east, diseases, religion, etc

I don't have to care, but i do. For all i care you can "bunnyhop" around playing the game like de_dust, but at least pick a sensible name.
