Guild in a weird situation, technical

Hi all

As some of you know I accidently deleted my main, who was GM in the guild, we do have 2 other GM´s but they are on vacation for who knows how long. So now we have no GM´s in the guild. Does anyone know if there is someway of magically promoting me to GM again, or must we wait for the other GM´s to come home from vacation?

Writing this I come to think of a theoretical situation:
A guild has only one GM, he quits the game for good and does not promote anyone. How does this guild get a new GM promoted?

How do you accidently delte a char? Oh well :p No, noone who isn't already a GM can promote you - as for guilds where the GM just quits - they are screwed; they'll either have to function without a GM, or just abandon the guild and form another. THis shouldn't be a problem though; can't imagine why anyone would be lame enough to abandon a guild without settling that issue :p

regarding the deleted charcater, it was about 7 in the morning and was suppose to del. an alt., but had the wrong charcter marked. I wish I could disable the delete function so I wont do it again.

lol. Well it is pretty foolproof.

You need to press delete, type YES, and then accept. It's impossible to 'accidently' delete a character.

Guild Maintenance Update
from Jeff Hickman
2002-03-27 15:41:25

We are putting a new system in place that will help solve the problem of a guild leader leaving his guild, and not promoting someone else to guild leader before he leaves. This new system will take effect on April 1st, and is detailed here:

Guild Maintenance Policy
========================

Guilds are an integral part of Dark Age of Camelot. In order to ensure the longevity of any guild, we must make sure that every guild has a Guild Leader (guild rank 0) with the authority to make critical changes in guild structure and guild setup. We assume that if a guild leader is absent for more than 3 weeks, that the guild leader has abandoned the guild (for whatever reason). At this point we will auto-promote a new guild leader from within the guild. The system works as follows:

1. If we see that there are no active Guild Leaders within a guild (anyone with guild rank 0), for a period of two weeks, then we send an e-mail to the missing Guild Leader(s). This e-mail informs them that if they do not log in within the next week, they will forfeit their position as Guild Leader and someone else will be promoted to fill the position.
2. If no Guild Leader character is logged in for a period of three weeks, then we will automatically demote the old Guild Leader to rank 1 within the guild, and promote a new Guild Leader from within the ranks of the guild. The system will promote the next active (logged in within the last week) highest ranked character within the guild. If there is more than one character of that next highest rank, then the character with the most played time within that rank will be promoted.
3. The old Guild Leader will be sent an e-mail explaining the actions that were taken.
4. The new Guild Leader will be send an e-mail explaining the actions that were taken.
5. Once these changes are made, the new Guild Leader is in command of the guild, and the changes will not be reversed for any reason.

We realize that this may not be the perfect solution, but it is critical and in the best interest of everyone involved, that each guild has an active Guild Leader.

-Jeff

Of course, I have no idea if this solution was also implemented by GOA... Good luck.
