GTA makers sued for copycat killing

Don't have to read it to see how f*cked up it is.

A moron kills someone - it's obviously the game's fault - not the fucking moron's....

/sigh :(

You should read it, its amazing. Two kids are bored, so they take a .22 rifle, head over to the highway, and start shooting at cars, killing a man.

Then they say the game made me do it. Not only is the game 18 rated, but where did they get a loaded rifle from?

As the article points out, its a deflection away from the "gun control" culture in the US, people question how 16 and 14 year olds gain access to an "M Rated" (18+) game, but not how they gain access to a rifle and ammunition.

Presicely TBFH.

The best article I heard in a while was how teachers were shocked at new kids STARTING school and some of them not being able to speak properly and those that could were swearing at other kids and some were resorting to physical violence.

Now try and blame the teachers or the computer games.

1. They've not even been at school before so it's hardly the teachers shite standards is it?
2. They've hardly got the ability to go steal the games and consoles from a supermarket have they?

So this leads right back to the parents having no fucking control over their kids. Letting them have access to violent materials. Most likely swearing around their own kids.

FFS there's kids growing up today who have to nurse maid their fucking parents cos they've got heroin addictions etc!!

But no. ou can't blame the parent. It must be the game's fault. Or the TV's fault. No, certainly not the parent's fault.

They need to stop pushing adult rated products to kids. These products are deadly

Those evil, evil developers. It's only a matter of time before a developer is caught standing outside a playground, selling games to minors. Sure, they only charge a couple of quid for GTA, but as soon as you're hooked the price for the sequels skyrockets.

Psssst! Kid! c'mere. You ever tried Carmageddon?
Carmageddon?
Sshhh, not so loud. Yeah, it's like GTA but cheaper. Here you go. Make sure you tell your friends.

indeed. it's almost as dangerous to walk past a school playground as it is to drive a car on the motorway!

The article covers the main defensive points.....don't blame games for bad parenting, too many guns, etc, etc.

People are retarded. Can somebody please explain to me how getting a loaded rifle, heading over to a highway and opening fire does not signal intent to kill? How can it then be blamed on games? Sue the fucking family, if you have to sue someone.

Choose guns. Choose Knives. Choose Irresponsibility. Choose to sue faceless corporations. Choose rap music, violent films and swearing in front of children. Choose copyright infringement. Choose obesity. Choose to ignore age restrictions, other peoples feelings or common sense. Choose gangs. Choose greed. Choose the 21st Century...

Yes it has stuff to do with the parents, but also if the kid is intelligent enouth to know whats right and wrong. You don't need to be taught that at age 14.. at younger age yes, but at 14 a wee bit of common sence is just as good as good parents. Theres always a choice ect..

er yeah
its the games fault, not the bloody guns and the mentally deformed kids who killed?

right.

Well, perhaps I'm being pedantic here, but I don't think intelligence has anything to do with knowing right from wrong. These kids haven't learned the moral values that help define a civilised society. Those morals can only be taught by family/friends, nothing you see on TV or on computer games can possibly affect that (IMO). Therefore, if you're going to blame anybody, blame these kids immediate social circle for the last 10 years or so.

well if they are the only ones who did it, then they must be considered the anomoly?
therefore something about them must be completly wrong compared to all the others?
in other words, they are just phsycos who would have done something stupid at some point anyway.

Why blame the game? How on earth did some kids manage to get a hold of a gun. :(

Games get blamed for everything nowadays..

Correct. It's also the parents reponsibility to teach them "killing=wrong". Something that is apparently missing here.

Well, if the parents don't let them goto school and interact with other kids, then its JUST the parents fault. But lets say the 'bad' kids at my school, know exactly what they are doing, KNOW its wrong, and still go ahead. Mostly for entertainment value.

I try to get them into computers but all they want to know is if I can hack banks :(

Same article, different site, at the bottom:

"Last month, a 14-year-old boy in southern Ohio stabbed his
aunt to death, possibly while sleepwalking. Just hours
earlier, he had been playing a game called Diablo. It is
"hugely significant," Mr Thompson said."

Does that mean if they play Superfrog, they go around throwing apples at bees?
