Group Vamp template

[Cadelin]

I designed this template for a Luri vamp who will be running in a group. I have dropped a few hits and resists and got 5% spell pierce and 9% casting speed. Anybody suggest improvements?

Care to explain why? Also what would you sacrifice instead? You will find it hard to get items with higher util/ToA bonuses so if you want decent matter resist something else will have to be reduced.


I am not convinced about a LW though. I don't like having to rely on a proc to do decent damage. Pierce is good too, I know most of midgard will be weak to it.

80 qui means I hit 250 swing speed. However if I drop that by 25 I can have 9% matter resist instead. I still need to drop something else in order to get matter. Sorc mess is energy based and that resist is only 13%.

Yup, nice template but a good vamp template should really be mainhand free. Debuffing cold/heat leggies + claw is a no-brainer tbh (and you'll be debuffing for the groups mages at the same time if you swap out for the MA's damage type) and the ability to switch out faster proccing weapons and other proc effects is handy if you want to solo.

A good thing is that the incoming dragon weapon has the same stats as the champ weapon but a nice set of procs, so you could swap those in/out and keep your template.

I don't think you need high casting speed/spell damage bonus on a vamp. But it's really personal preference. I intend to play my vamp as a Dementia vamp and therefor as an interrupter, damage soaker, anti-MoC/BG-dude and so on. I prefer capped resists and 101 con and 400 hits among 101 str/dex and 80ish quickness and almost capped melee bonuses and a mainhand free template if possible.

Certain classes do damage in matter (spells, LWs) and then there is the CC argument, some CC spells are matter based.

I think LWs are a good deal as they debuff for your Claw damage.

So in conclusion I would try to keep Matter but also Spirit and Energy at 20% minimum. Mostly due to some hybrid classes being so strong (Valk/Thane) and LWs.

Fair points, but in conclusion you disagree with the principle of the template rather than an individual resist. However I felt I did state in the opening line that this template was a "casting" template rather than a "hits" template.

My vamp isn't quite level 50 and I intend to play him as part of any assist train until I get a few realm ranks. It looks like I shall try and fit in a LW instead of champ weapon first though.

its posible 2 change the 7% spirit on shield to hits or what ever just doubt the +60 hits u get from changeing would help alot. and the + 25 str and con is acturly 26 but my calc is stupidly old

80 qui means I hit 250 swing speed. However if I drop that by 25 I can have 9% matter resist instead. I still need to drop something else in order to get matter. Sorc mess is energy based and that resist is only 13%.

The 5% pierce is the hard part to fit in. If you get Stone Bone gem, you have 5% melee and cast speed. With scalars and Kraken neckie you have 8% of each and it is easy to put in a ring of torrent/bracer of heavenly bodies and something with 2% melee haste. You can then get your caps from BP cloak and belt which give +9 cap to str and dex each. You might not quite get 101 con but you can cap everything else without too many problems. I can post the one I made like this later.

If I use AT, I can either use SoM + scalars + 2% for melee haste or Levi Ring + scalars + 2 x 2% itmes. There is also a pair of leggings from Phoenix that has 4% melee haste. The point is if I drop SoM I have to start using some very expensive items and my vampiir is only lvl 48.5 atm!

I think I shall go VE spec initially and aim for a template with AT and a matter legendary. I won't worry too much about casting speed although 4%+ would be nice.

Vamp jewel has 5% cast speed to. Sun Ruby has 4% cast speed to name a few!

On topic, i like the temp very much, would prefer LW weapon tho. I wouldn't say the matter resist are that critical. I would happily try this temp out if i had any money left on limors to get items Make a AT+LW temp!
