Group hug thread..............

One of the things I think this forum needs is a group hug thread, to be ressurected as when required.

In a place where highly intellectual beings and complete arseholes mingle there is bound to be an electric atmosphere....

At the end of the day we have all one thing in common..... an interest in responding to others posts, whether it be to agree, diagree,spam, whatever. But at times it just gets out of hand with regulars ganging up on other regulars or worse still the noobies. Most of us are guilty of engaging in it and will probably agree that at times its downright entertaining. But at other times it can just go that bit too far( except perhaps where persons like slic3r are involved)

Now I know this thread is just going to get ripped apart, but I dont care. At least Ive raised the issue and I invite any of you in to discuss and to hug.

Aye we do all indeed have this in common(BW forums), I know what you mean but I also feel that the person who you have most to do with recently and whom you stick up for is actually not doing himself any favours, he gets aggressive sometimes at the slightest provacation and this is why he gets stick. If people don't like people having a go at them then they should realise that about 90% of the stuff said on here is either in jest or just trying to be helpful. Granted when stuff is in text it can be interpreted in different ways, it can sound sarcastic or it can sound patronising, but generally this is a friendly place.

Trems I understand where you are coming from.

The person to whom you refer is one of a small number of people that I have felt the need to defend and no doubt that list will grow. I am also not the only person to defend another if they believe they have a valid point.

By defending someone in here doesn't mean that I support them in everything they have posted, which is were I think people misunderstand.

It is as a result of wishing to clear these misunderstandings( and perhaps others for that matter) that I have started this thread.

'n3wbie' is a bit of a twat... That's all that needs to be said on the subject. I think we get on very well, especially compared to other forums with this amount of regulars.


The flaming of idiots(who *might* happen to be newbies), is part of our group psyche - Embrace the flames, Grandad, you know you want to :D

I disagree. Everyone should get flamed ,ridiculed and generally shat on when they first come here, but the fact is they dont. Only a small minority do. Never happened to me from what I can remember.

I didn't get flamed when I began posting here regularly.

And one of my first posts was to get laid into Perp (bless him) iirc :)

Maybe I actually did the right thing - lurk for a while, gauge the mentality of the forum and its regulars then begin posting. In other words, don't just wade in with any old bollocks. Lurk for a while.


Then post any old bollocks :D

Exactly what I did as well Sar, that first post is fucking scary, and at the time I was using "text typing" as well, jeez Kez really laid into me then. So we all get it N3wbie and some of us still do, just chill out a little and don't react to every little thing, just relax and try and counter-act abuse with something other than swearing and anger.
