Thats a sebaceous cyst, not a spot, and he has another underneath it, did you see? If he went to A&E with that, they'd be putting him under anaesthesia to incise it and drain it.

Odd... I was forwarded this link just the other day. Similar topic though I think this guy had it a lot worse.

A what? Explanation! How do you get one of them? I'm almost tempted to 'experiment' :D

How does something like that come about in the first place, does it start as a spot, or does something get under the skin that then gets infected?

gunz the one you posted looks like what happens when you mix ketchup and mayo to dunk your chips in. Just imagine dunking your chips in that.

I had one on my sack, not as mega as those mind. It is a gland that gets blocked but keeps secreting sebum, and so gets bigger and bigger.
Mine got infected though so i was on some hardcore antibiotics, then the stuff inside sort of came out.

its gone for now but apparently it will come back!

The thing to bear in mind is that if it's "dry" and "stringy" then it's a sebaceous cyst. If it's "wet" then it's a staph infection. They both need special attention if they leave an open wound.

If you want to cringe, go read up about a Pilonidal cyst. Dad had one years ago, l'il bro had one last year and thankfully I've never had a problem in that regard. :)

Eugh, Pilonidal abcesses or cysts are awful, saw loads of them when I used to work in recovery. Saw one being operated on too, was possibly the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. A sebaceous cyst is exactly as was earlier explained....almost like a whitehead gone nuts.
A boil is an infection in a hair follicle or sometimes from a small scratch or ouncture wound that gets infected. Both would need fairly hard core antibiotics and possibly surgery to incise and drain the infection.
And yes, unfortunately, if you've had one, you are very likely to get more.

Yeah but if I wanted to create a man-made cyst what would I have to do?!

Gunner, believe me, you don't want one. They are horribly painful and can often leave horrendous pitted scars.
HOWEVER....if you really do want one, all I can think of is to suggest that you don't wash areas that get sweaty and encourage ingrowing hairs by shaving said areas with a blunt razor.

That ingrowing toenail was a monster, it didn't even look sore before they started and when he pulled it out I almost fainted.

Quite cool though :D
